Hey guys im new to this site, and yes I searched and saw the huge post on towing with tacomas. The truck is a 2005 double cab, prerunner/sr5, 4.0 v6. I was wondering what you guys have towed with these trucks?

Im wanting to tow a boat that is 4500 lbs (dry weight with trailer and boat), then you add in fuel and wakeboards etc. I know I can tow up to 6500 but can I do this SAFELY? Do you guys go way slower since these are smaller trucks?

I dont have tow package can I just go to the Toyota dealership and tell them to add the tow package? How much will it cost? Im sorry for the stupid questions and if im reposting, I just want to know if towing with this is a good idea, trips will be probably 4 hours long. Its a 21 foot wakeboard boat btw. Should I just get a different vehicle?

Go back to the towing forum header and do a "search this forum" with the keywords "package" and you will get a lot of hits.
