How's the feed back been with plowing with the new engine?

I know the taco's arent a typical plow truck, but i people do put on the baby plows for personal driveways n such. I just bought a new house and we have a 350 ft driveway. i have a snowblower but just thinking it would be wayyyy quickers with a plow

We always plowed with an ATV or tractor but we got a ton of heavy snow. Plows tend to tear/wear out your vehicle regardless of what it is, even full size. The tacoma should be able to plow fine but I recommend only plowing light snow, so this may require you to plow a couple times through the night or whatever. Wet snow and heavy snow, you'll want to use that snow blower.

The "plow eligible" trucks as we like to call them were usually past their prime and were basically a beater truck.

I've used a 2007 Tacoma to plow for a couple years. It does fine. Not as good in deep snow as larger trucks because it doesn't weigh as much, but it plows just fine. It's also easier to get unstuck.

I doubt the 3rd gen would be any different. It definitely has enough power to get a plow through snow if that's what you're asking

If you're plowing a 350ft driveway with a Tacoma you will be fine. 4lo does a lot for protecting your transmission. Go slow, mark hazards and edges with fiberglass poles, and don't push fresh snow into a frozen pile.

Commercial plowing is definitely a different animal.

Commercial plowing is definitely alot of fun lol.
i plow every year, the company i work for gives me a truck with a plow, gas card, and ezpass
and gives me my snow route lol
If you are gonna just do personal plowing look at the sport plows they are alot lighter and wont stress your truck as much as the big plows

It works for snow 3-8", and leaves alot of crumbs but it's a quick, easy, and fairly cheap way to clear snow. If it's a big storm i just go out ever few hours and clear the driveway...

Is there drilling or welding to mount the frame? Looks like there no air dam on the front.

I have a TRD off-road so there is no lower valance. The hitch mount bolts right onto the frame, no need for drilling or tapping.

I know lots of people plow with mid sized trucks or even jeeps.

I was more asking with consideration to the new engine. With the higher revving poweband, i just curious on the effect with less low end torque to push snow around

I have yet to see a DR product that didn't exceed anything they advertise, but have no exp with this product. Should be a safe bet though for a basic small plow.

I'm not trying to be a wise ass above. However I find that lots of people think 4lo is some mystical thing that is only supposed to be used in emergency situations . I view 4lo as simply another set of gears that are....lower. I use 4lo probably 50% of the time while off-roading. Hell, I often leave it in 4lo while on two tracks and just start off in third gear. I did this on my 1st and 2nd gens as well.

I wouldn't buy it unless I had a short, thin, straight driveway. Not being able to control left or right angle would get old quick. And changing the angle by getting out of the truck would be frustrating. But every tool has a function.

    Cool.. thanks for the feedback.
The new Fisher has like a float lock which I'm hoping will help with the heavier snow. I hope so because we get a good amount of that here in the mid coast of Maine. I'll let you know in a couple months..
