Yeah I'm good on the phish stuff ;) I've been running through the cubby for months now :p

I'm going with 1" down from the lip of metal, 2" forward of the edge of the bended composite material for nice round numbers.

Yeah but mine goes to 11 (ok, well, 6 :)

The TAG topper fuse box is a 6 pin too so it mates well I say.

Went with a 3/4" bit after a 3/8 to start it off, should have done a smaller pilot though.

Yes indeed, and my plan for the flange for the Tundra is to have a plug which does a loopback to the cargo light ground. So, when shell is on, cargo/chmsl ground is open. When shell is off, plug re-routes shell ground to cargo/chmsl ground and it works again. I'd do the same for the Tacoma except that I'm going to use all 6 wires in the flange and I cannot source the chmsl connectors and I haven't opened it up/dropped the headliner so it's a tundra only plan for now.

Looking through the thread, most do the driver side, and initially that is what I thought as well. I have the puppypunter 2 wire brake light tap, is there a reason not to do the passenger side? I'm thinking putting the Deutsch 2 pin flange connector in the cubby box beside the AC outlet. It'll be hidden when the topper is off, easy to put a hole in the door and replace the door on the cubby if I sell the topper - are there any negatives or is the connection on the passenger side different? 2019 DCSB OR.

I've got mine plugged into the passenger side, no problems. My cap came with the wires on that side.

I don’t personally like cluttering the cubby but I see how a door is easier to replace that a composite bed. Took me a while to get the nerve up to drill but I like the hole up high, close to the rail. I wouldn’t want it as cubby height.

Maybe a better question for me is, "what do you store in the cubby?" On my 2nd Gen, the cubby was bigger and I could see useful. On the 3rd Gen, it's kinda small, it looks like it gets wet in there and the connector would be hidden when not in use. I assume the reason you're keeping the connector up high is to keep it out of the way when using the bed?

I've done enough short sighted things that I regretted so am genuinely curious as to different use cases. My plan is actually put the connector inside the cubby, and a pass-thru hole in the door. I printed a little hood for the connector so even if I did put something in there, the connector would be somewhat protected.
