The connectors I bought looked like this
    1587745294499995679786011700896.jpg
I was able to fold over the pins with the needle nose and then crimp them on harder. After that I soldered them together. They aren't going anywhere. I've seen ones that just have a barrel type opening which I would guess you'd need the special tools for that (or just smash it and solder it)

Regardless, I recommend soldering as well as crimping as it just creates another permanent bond

Where did you pick those up? I assume there's different sizes for different gauge wire? Or are they all the same?

DT02 connectors work with 14-16AWG wire. I used 14AWG to power my components and 18AWG for my switch harness. The 18AWG was tight (loose), but I just used more solder :p

I purchased my connectors from eBay, seller alab.engr, but there are many sellers of deutsch connectors on eBay

here is a link to their store:

    @ryfox0276

I caved... I found a killer deal on the (legit) crimping tool, and I'm a tool junkie.

If you or anyone else has a wiring project that uses Deutsch connectors, hit me up and I'll loan it out.

Those things make for great crimps on the barrel style contacts, not quite all the same features but the same basic concept and crimp as what we use on aircraft connectors. When I installed my Rigid lights with Deutsch connectors I custom built the wire bundles that run to them and had to buy a few contacts and bring the wiring in to work so I could crimp them on, I wasn't ready to drop the coin on the crimper myself for a handful of wires.

I’ve shipped a ECGS tool via USPS (2 day priority) for $7.50. Maybe someone will sell you a used one or loan it via mail.

I’m gonna need that one weekend this summer. I had a little mishap with my ditch light harness and my windshield whipper motor. It hard wired back together but I bought the connectors to fix it then choked on the price of the tool.

Whenever you're ready, hit me up. I can ship it to you or we can meet up for a quick connectorizing. Are you still in concrete?

Yes but I’m down in Snohomish County all the time for work. It’s not way up high on the agenda of things to do right now.

Thanks for looking out for the needle bearing removal tool. I found a guy in the PNW tacoma FB page who sold me it for $10. Easy and convenient so I couldn’t pass. Will be passing it on when I’m done.

Anyone got the big honking crimper (manual or hydraulic) to do battery cables? I'd like to replace my terminals with mil-spec terminals sometime this summer.

I appreciate it, but by the time we're all said and done I should just buy one. :)

I got one from Amazon when I put in the dual battery setup and got a decent deal but it is kind of a only use once or twice thing.

Yeah, that's kind of why I'm hesitant to buy one just yet. I don't really "need" to do the terminals until I get a winch, so I can wait. They aren't going anywhere.
