I noticed the 'rumble strip' when decelerating from about 30 mph. New SR5, access cab, 700 miles. Smooth as silk otherwise Took it to dealer First they removed rear driveshaft, drove in 4wd and said they still felt it. They checked rear flange angle (TSB 0124-20); it was in spec. They opened a TAS case w Toyota. After a day, they replaced the rear differential (yup, rear- I checked with the service manager- he said it was defective). There is still a rumbling, around 27 mph as i decelerate but much reduced. They reached out to Toyota who said it was normal, due to leaf spring.
Interestingly, while it was in the shop, the salesman who sold me the truck called me, said he noticed the truck was in the shop. We talked for a bit, and he said to find him when I picked up the truck. He went over the repair document with me, then we drove my truck about 5 miles followed by driving his Taco (also 2022) over the same route. Both trucks did the same thing, though his was less pronounced.
He got Toyota to keep the case open and suggested i come back in if it persists or gets worse.

Thanks for the post. Seems like it affects the access cab the most

Just got back from the dealer i have an appointment sept 13 to have my 2022 trd fixed, they are replacing the leaf springs the parts are already ordered.the service guy told me they exteneded the TSB through 2022 models but there is no recall for it,the dealer will fix it if you complain about it.I didnt even buy my truck there so i got a good local dealer the service guy is pretty cool.
So if you think there is a problem make them fix it.
and not every truck has this problem some people here have no problems.

How is it that leaf springs cause this ? As I have already posted my truck has this exact issue, just would like to understand how leaf springs causes this to happen ?

It got far more noticable after 100k miles. There is a hill coming up to a stop sign near my house, I was able to replicate the vibration every time by letting go of the gas and letting it decelerate up the hill to the stop sign. Felt driveshafty? Like something was shaking near the rear diff.

Total Chaos mid-travel front. JD Fab SUA rear.
2016 2wd DCSB here. Just diagnosed my driveline vibrations to the front yoke. Somehow, my driveline is ‘too short’ or my rear axle has moved to the rear about an inch. I can’t seem to understand the how/why. I will post a photo of the front yoke where the driveshaft meets the transmission output shaft.
With the rear flange disconnected and the carrier bearing bolts loose, I can push the driveshaft all the way forward. But then there is about a 1” gap at the rear driveshaft flange and differential.
There is a violent shake at 20-25mph and again at 50mph. A noticeable vibration at all speeds otherwise.
Not sure what my solution is going to be.
Suspension details: front-king ext shocks w/TC UCA. Rear- Deaver stage 3 with hammer hangers and king ext shocks.

    Help….

So did their "fix" work? The problem we're having is that 2022s where already supposed to have the fix and even for people who got this fix done on 2021s and older, many of them still had the issue afterwards. The TSB fix is hit or miss at best.

yes they did fix it sorry for the delay they replaced both leave spring packs and readjusted the drive line angle.

i belive also that the drive line is the culprit they just dont want to admit it.

I wonder what is different about the springs? Do they ride stiffer or did it raise the back of the truck a bit? Also, do you know if they installed an axle shim?

Also, do you have the TSB number from your service? I'd like to look it up because the last time I was in, they said it stopped at 2021 and didn't include 2022s yet but it might get expanded later.

I would think the new springs would lower the trucks rear a tiny bit, so the pinion angle is more optimum. I wouldn't think the spring rate would change much if any.

I recall reading posts from people in the thread about this TSB and some said the truck sat a bit higher and rode rougher so I assumed the springs were stiffer. The TSB is for "Driveline Vibration Under Deceleration Around 30 - 10 MPH" as it's exact name. As you decel, the front of the pinion tilts down slightly so yeah, you'd think stiffer springs would make this worse. I'd think a small shim to angle the pinion up would counter this. I really need to measure my angles against the Spicer manual.

Link to the sticky thread but there's many more:

the ride is softer for me with the new springs, they said my drive angle was off 2 degrees
