Im a fan of single DIN, but they are being phased out. Macintosh makes some really nice stuff, but try finding them. I chose the Alpine INA-W910 cuz it supports alot of music/video file types. The Pioneer AVICs are just as good, but dont support CD Changers/Sound Processor.

I think they are all hideous. But it's the only resonably priced way to get the functions I want.

I think aftermarket double dins look way better than stock. But for me I'm a audiophile and there isn't a stock stereo that meets my needs at all. I also hate silver colored plastic. Wish all the silver was just flat black.

Without reading through the entire thread... OP - I think they're 'cooler' than stock but the MAIN REASON I went aftermarket is because it sounds 1000x better with or without new speakers, amps, subs.

Aftermarket all the way! Better SQ, more expandability options, the list could go on... But of course, I have a little bit of a biased opinion! :)

I like the double dins but I only like the ones that are really expensive . Is there a way to have a single din installed and avoid that additional space under it?

Sure! Just a heads up you can buy each part separate vs the entire kit. Entire kit is 54 pieces and its about 400$ after everything is said and done. If you want more info on it PM me.

I've never seen one that doesn't have that space under it. I'm not sure why you wouldn't want the extra storage.

What I would do if I wanted to remove that is find some plastic, cut it to fit very snug in that hole.. Cut out the back pocket, glue that part into place then bondo/sand/paint over it. If you do it right nobody will ever notice it wasn't made that way.
