This is a poll of MAJOR issues
*please give the reason if answer "YES" so we know the issue, thanks*
Since there seems to be a lot of issues with the 3rd gen Tacomas, v6 especially, I thought we should have a poll of real problems of the them. Basically to differentiate between complaining on little stuff or minor issues and real problems. Not to include LCA howls, new door seal, slight vibrations in the steering wheel, a transmission thats shifts funny or anything small that was easily taken care of, especially if there is a TSB that addresses it. Looking for TW member reliability numbers, which may show the long term reliability. Have they replaced a head, transmission, or other major failure? Im hesitant to add the differential howl since there is no fix and really no for sure cause and might actually be "harmonics" or whatever Toyota wants to claim as normal, so maybe dont put a Yes for just the noise, even if it was replaced, but do put a yes if there was a true mechanical failure. You can change your vote if something happens on the way home.
Please explain if you would if you answer YES

Small annoyances in the beginning but absolutely nothing to make me question the reliability of the truck.

The only thing that has made me question the reliability of the truck has been this forum! lol.

Major as far as keeping me off the road? Nope. But I have had pretty much every one of the smaller issues however. Almost due for my 20K and I'll be leaving it with the dealer till they completely fix the squeaking springs. It's been doing it for 10,000 miles now and is plain embarrassing driving around sounding like a 200k 90's era Ford or something. Heck, my girlfriend has a 300k+ '97 F250 and it doesn't even squeak like my Tacoma does. And it hasn't had an easy life either.

Only thing I see repeatedly on here that isn't a one off is the CPS sensor issue a few members have had.

No I agree, there are a lot of little stuff that adds up and it sucks. I wasn't sure if I should count the cps, since it's something that leaves people stranded but is an easy fix and is an issue having to do with the company that makes those. Guess need some imput if we should count those. I would probably count the cps oil leak problems. Bad sensor is up in the air for me

My last truck was a 1987 Ford f-250 I got off a farmer after 3 years of break downs and countless bad words I gave that pile of shit away so now I'm happy I push the button and it starts lol. I did the TSB and gorilla tape on A frames for whistle and that's it.

My biggest issue so far was the gear shift getting stuck in 5th. $10 worth of parts and some yelling at my dealer to do it even though they couldn't recreate it and got it fixed.

It will happen,I am surprised its gone on this long with none though. But I do know of a small handful who earned the right to say yes.

I am @ a week of ownership/350 miles on my 17 Pro, and absolutely no issues. At first I thought the tranny was shifting kind of weird, but now with more miles on it, and getting used to a auto tranny, have no complaints.

Ya, I was waiting for the CPS people. I almost dont count it but being an issue that leaves you stranded does it for me. Its pretty easily fixed, and is just a faulty sensor, but still

Of course there are several member who have had some issues. However that's normal. It sucks but it happens with all vehicles and manufactures. It's not a matter of if its going to break it when. Honestly I'd rather something go wrong during the warranty period then not.

so many people think these trucks are a pile of shit but I think most of it is people who has nothing better to do then to bitch about small little things, or are just trolling. Aside from the few that have had some legitimate issues.

It's an easy fix if you have a spare cps in your glovebox. Not to mention, it's absolutely dangerous

I almost made a choice just for the sensor just to not throw off the count since I know there were a lot of people with them

I'm at 5,000 miles. The only thing I've noticed is the whistling arms on the front @ 40 MPH and it doesn't annoy me that bad or I probably would have done something about it. I absolutely love my Taco!
