I figured 6 years would be significant to say there are issues.Yes 2009 had them too but they aren't many 2009 out on the road still.Hey if you want to get technical my first truck was a 1988 Toyota pickup with the 22r engine. It was flawless I put tons of miles on that truck and only changed oil and brake pads.Point being Toyota is known for reliability and this 2016 is far from reliable in my eyes.

No, I agree, toyota kinda flopped on this one. I just added 09 because it's still second gen and they didn't really change much. not sure about your comment that there isn't many on the road anymore. I have an 88 4runner and have had several 22r vehicles, love that motor. Wouldn't call it flawless though, they leak and burn oil, tap, knock and barely have the power to pull itself. but they are great because they keep running anyway,

    Yes
Intermittent brake pressure loss. Every few hundred+ miles my brake pedal will drop to the floor, brake will not engage. As soon as I release the brake and press again, brake is 100% normal.
Been to 2 different dealerships 6 times with 2 Toyota cases open. Met with District manager and technical specialists. They drive the truck for a few miles, can't recreate the issue and they give it back. The last service manager agreed to drive the truck home for a few days to attempt to recreate the issue, no luck. Within 30 miles of picking up the truck it happened again to me. Have photos and video of brake pedal on the floor.
Regional Manager closed the case with nothing fixed.
Cannot lemon law the truck because nothing has been replaced. Been told to take Toyota to small claims, but not sure what that will do. Have come to realize Toyota will not fix this issue.

So I just continue to drive the truck with the fear of knowing I could be in that one situation where I am not quick enough on the brake and I hit something or someone...

I can only lemon it if they replace a part. So I was hoping they would replace something, but they know how that law works. My lawyer just said, try to get them to replace something, anything, and he will get me a new truck.

They have to verify it first. but they can't just not replace something so it isn't lemoned. take it to another dealer and see if they throw parts at it

Toyota policy is they cannot perform any type of work until the issue has been duplicated by a service technician. I have been told this many many times haha. I have another local dealer I can try.

Meaning the 09 is 8 years old and you'll see more of the years that I posted which was basically the last 6 years.Im sure you'll see an 09 cruising around but it's not everyday compared to let's say a 13 or 14 obviously.

It is amazing that what was once the best quality vehicle has gone downhill this far and fast with one redesign

I'm just hoping that particular year doesn't hurt resale value, tacoma has been #1 for last couple years

Ya me too. I would bet that it wont hurt it too much. If you look at that website at other toyotas you see that Camrys and others have a lot more complaints and it hasnt hurt resale and they are still better than other vehicles, sadly. The next few years will likely have the issues worked out. Same as the first gen having head gasket issues, no body sees them as junk anymore, even a 96

    Let's bump this up

    EDIT 12/12/16

The following fixes have been done:

    TSB for transmission
Transmission fluid topped off - dealer notes "minimally low" (would not tell me exact measurements)
Driver side window tightened up (was super loose and would rattle)
    Control arms plugs for howling

    Still to do:
Align bed (i'll probably do it myself)
Fuel pump chirping - based on another thread, I think I will have them replace my fuel pump. I do hear the chirping but not 100% sure its the pump. I'll probably wait until the truck has 20k miles and tell them to replace it

Overall, mostly minor inconveniences - NO reliability issues to date.

Still 100% very happy however I might trade the truck in ...

For a PRO .... if i ever find one

Try putting a cap full of lucus fuel additive to it. I think that's how they got the frs to shut up. nothing wrong with it I think, just the high pressure doing odd stuff to the fuel

I love this truck, don't get me wrong. But I had my rear main seal start leaking at 20k miles. Kind of concerning for a yota, but I just shrugged it off as a bad part from the factory. Toyota covered replacement and a loaner, so not too big a complaint. Just mad it happened on such a new truck. Other than that the truck has served me extremely well

Truck was driving fine. Engine temps normal 70degrees outside drove for 20 mins fine then at about 25 mph it started surging so I let off the gas then came to an idle then and when I tried to accelerate it surged hard and I lost all power and it wouldn't turn back on. No check engine light or anything. It's at the dealer now.
