I am also getting dual lockers, but it would've been very stupid of buying this before the tires, armor, lift, etc.

LSD/VSC is very, very impressive and locker is better only in a VERY few spots...

Well.....I was an avid offroader and.....Honestly?

    Get a lift first.

    1) Everyone needs to learn how to DRIVE FIRST before sticking lockers in their trucks. Lockers can put people in dangerous situations while offroad especially if they don't know what they're doing.

    2) ARB lockers are COSTLY. You're much better off waiting (financially) until you've gotten to the point where you need (or want) regearing. Do the regearing and the ARB at the same time.

    3) You're better off getting rock sliders & body armor first.

As stated before, I made this poll in between a lift and locker intentionally. I know about armor, just wanted opinions between the two options I make originally

and probably 80% of the people that answered your poll never wheeled their trucks enough to really see the limits of a locker vs non locker.

locker does sound more "cool and offroad" though

locker or lift is a toughie... voted locker. because from what wheelin' I've done, the locker helped me a lot more than my 2.5" lift did, especially on hill cimbs and loose rocky areas. Your only gonna get the full advantage of a lift when you add better(and bigger) tires. I'd say lock it, get better tires whether they be stock size or a lil bigger, armor, then suspension.

At this month's meet, my truck rocked the face of those who had lift and bigger tires. It also meant I could do all the obstacles much slower/ safer.

It depends on what kind of terrain you are on, if you decide you dont have clearance for objects the lift and tires would be better but if you find yourself not having traction of having tires off the ground often then the locker is better for you.
But if you have the locker and some stout armor and skid plates you wil not need as much clearance

I would agree with Mr MonkeyProof - body and undercarriage protection - then a locker!

A locker is nice and so is a lift. It just depends on what kinda wheel'n you like to do. I vote for both. I have a lift on my toy with open diffs. It gets me where I need to go.

    This was answered quite appropriately ;How will you use your truck.....then decide your "Mods"....For me it was easy,just went down through how everybody else in the group had progressed,then made my list;
    1) Sliders:) 2) locker (ARB) 3) decide how CRAZY I'm going to get with Lift, then purchase  4) of course ,now I need tires and wheels  OR
    5) purchase that 4-runner or FJ and leave the Taco as my DD ;) and make my expedition "RIDE"......

My personal choice: Depending on where you go; the most valuable tool to me would be a winch and snatch block with shovel.

    Locker?
You can work a trail without a locker with proper positioning; a locker if properly used will get you out of sticky situations....BUT; I have seen first hand how lockers can cause more problems when the wrong gear is used. IE: 4HI vs 4LOW Etc.

    3" Lift?
I worked many trails before I got my lift, the first time I dropped into a sand rock and smashed my corner quarter panel was the last!, got rock guards that were "welded" not "bolted", then my lift....now I have less worries about damage.

Another good thing to remember is that a front locker is good for one thing - Going STRAIGHT or relatively straight while on slippery stuff (all wheels will be spinning at the same speed!). In the wrong hands, a front locker can be very dangerous!

Totally agree! I can not even drive my truck double locked on any hard surface.

Would also recommend the ARB in the front so you can dis-engage in a pinch situation. I have seen guys have to jack to release the pressure off the front locker just so they can turn the wheel. ARB is the best for this.
