Pffttt...Everyone's getting 65+MPG out of these trucks. I have a picture so that makes it true.

you can see my distance traveled is not just a mile or 2, with exception to the one that I said was a short trip. You're attempting to discount my results by being a sarcastic asshole and mocking me... Whatever floats your boat man.

I won't continue to post in this thread since the one ones who are right are the ones getting bad mpg.

If you want to be taken seriously quit posting cherry picked pics of the dash display, run a whole tank of gas thru your truck then hand calculate it out and post that along with the driving conditions. Or better yet run several tanks thru it and post those.

In the other mpg thread there are shitloads of BS posts showing 25-35+ MPG dash display pics.

    My last tank:
370miles of 1/2 curvy, hilly road 45-65mph, 1/2 city 0-35 mph. 21.26 mpg. Like that.

    Overall tankfulls: 20.1, 20.1, 19.8, 19.8, 20.1, 20.1, 21.1, 21.26

Yesterday, I got 28.5mpg over 64.1 miles due east with a net 550 ft drop of elevation . This was with a pretty serious tail wind. On the way home, however ... that same 64.1 miles due west (uphill and with a serious head wind) got me about 19.5mpg.

Come talk to us when you have a full tank with those numbers.

Are you driving all down hill or something lol. Or never see traffic?

I've noticed with MPG it's fine while on the highway and moving at 35mph +. But stopping and going at ref lights or traffic kills mine. I live in the city so can't avoid it

I don't understand how idling can increase your mpg, as I sit at a light or stop sign I can watch my tank average go down. Then I see you said turn it off, so basicly you are cheating the system. So the next time I am at the top of a big hill, I should shut off the truck then start it up, coast down the hill then take a photo of my trip screen, ya that will show every one what great milage we can get.

trip mpgs are nice, but we really should be talking about tank averages or even what it says on entune for our average which I am currently at 18.2, or even the fuely average which is below.

so... You averaged 24. Kinda proving my point.
My numbers aren't "cherry picked" they are literally just the last 4 trips, my last free tank fill ups have been around 25, verified with calculating as I already said.
Again, I'm not saying everyone should get this mpg since some drive 100% city for example.
People want to mock anyone who gets good gas mileage and be sarcastic in an attempt to discount their results... Childish.

I have a 2.7L for one, and I had to try for those numbers. You claim to have 25MPG average over three current tanks with a best of 33.3 (I assume in better weather) ... "without even trying" in Maryland? That's awesome if true, but we're going to need proof considering how outrageous it sounds.

25.98 is the best tank I have achieved, in ideal weather conditions ... which is documented in the 4 cylinder forum. It took all of the patience I had, which is a lot.

Can you also cook grits on your hood in 5 minutes? Perhaps the laws/theories of physics cease to exist in the vicinity of your truck ...

    Yeah, I was joking...

...but I have considered buying a block and transmission heater... that would probably bump my average 2 mpg since I take so many short trips... but then I would use more electricity... and it would cost ~$100... wonder if it would ever pay off? Hard to calculate potential longevity benefits.

2016 Tacoma off road. When I took my first trip to the hunt camp. I was only getting 16mpg. On my return I took it back to the dealer and asked them to reflash the ECU. I dint think it was shifting into 6 gear unless I took my foot off the accelerator and was coasting. The service manager listened to me but had this unconvincing expression. A mechanic took it for a test drive and agreed and reflashed it. I drive with a heavy foot and am getting a average of 20mpg now. This is my 3rd Tacoma but 1st 4x4 and by far my favorite.

I'm 18-21 mpg average with E rated KO2s, 87 octane, and I don't bother with the ECT button.

I've been getting 20-22 but that's all highway. Sometime it says to drive slower on my screen to get a higher mpg on a truck...

Little update: I have noticed that just the difference between 60mph on the highway and 70+mph on the highway is like 5mpg.

I figure mpg the old fashion way. Miles traveled divided by gallons used. Also, with my lift and bigger tires, the computer is confused.

Same here I averaged 15 mpgs last tank I'm on my third tank with 450 mile hoping it goes up after I pass 1000 miles. I do get 20mpgs on the highway just the city driving kills mines

I have a 17 TRD OFF-ROAD DCLB. Less than 1000 miles. I don't have a lead foot, I don't hit a lot of red lights or really any stop and go. I let truck coast as much as possible. All flat road. I genuinely drive in ideal conditions. In my case I've only seen 2 avg mpgs; 13.5 and 15.5. Both the screen and my own math (i.e. miles traveled ÷ full tank = mpg) match, so I'm getting horrible mp!. Took truck in to log issue w/dealership (Whittier, CA). Service Advisor said they are seeing this a lot and he "wonders" if Toyota will recognize and issue a fix. Just prior to Advisor saying this, the Tech ran the truck and was able to avg 17.5 mpg, when driving per Toyota's controlled test protocols. That's interesting; since it was driven per test protocol, it should've achieved better than 17.5. Next step is to call Regional Service guy in and escalate issue. Love my truck but HATE my mpg. Anyone know of a genuine fix?

16 TRD OR DCSB 16MPG average. Not a heavy foot either. I have only ever seen it go over 20 once, in Georgia going downhill with a tailwind. That 16mpg average is here in flat South Jersey.

The day I brought my 2016 TRD OR home I was getting 23 mpg around 65 mph. I haven't gotten that mpg since bc I dont drive that slow normally. I usually average around 18 mph with my current set up 33"tires, 3" lift and 300 lbs armor. My Fiance can pull out 20 mpg still but talking about driving like a grandma...
