I recently purchased a PopLock locking tailgate for my truck. At first it was working as advertised. Here lately it has not wanted to open without some additional stiff pulls of the handle.

At first I thought it might be the addition of my tailgate extender possibly placing pressure against the tailgate when closed. But after getting it open and folding the tonneau cover back I saw that it was not binding against the extender. I removed the tailgate inside cover and all the linkage is properly and securely attached. I took a screw drive and set the pin locks as though it was in the closed position. And without hesitation they released with one easy pull of the handle. I reclosed the tailgate several times without a hitch.

Anyone else having any issues. The PopLock can highly recommended. Thanks

Don't do it. I would send it back and get my money back. If you go to the reviews and read the poor reviews they won't last. I wish I had read further down the list further.

The problem isn't with the install. I used the video as well when I installed it. It is after time it fails to operate internally.

Is there a suitable substitute for this product then?

I've had one for a while with no issues. Did you invert the driver side rod end for end like the instructions say? I think I remember somewhere in there it was stated that operation may fail if you skip that step.

Mine broke within 6mos. of install. I contacted Pop n Lock (I purchased direct from them) they replaced it no questions asked! Great customer service! It's been almost a year on the second one, seems to be holding up OK. Just be sure to seal and lube!

That is what I have been reading also. Amazon is reimbursing me since Pop&Lock won't honor their own warranty.

Mine works fine - have never experienced the problems referenced by many on TW.

Yup, that's the one I have. It is spendy though. If I hadn't found one on the forum NIB for $30 I'm not sure I'd have one.

Install is a breeze. I found a write up on the forum somewhere that even told me the correct wires to tap.

I read that in the instructions as well ..."warranty doesn't cover products from Auction sites like Amazon and ebay". I get ebay, but not backing products sold on Amazon by Amazon LLC is a total scam IMO. These are not black market items. They are surely sourced legally. This is just pop and lock getting out of backing their stuff.

My original one worked great too. Until it didn't...

    The lock fell apart.

Okay, I'm not trying to stir the pot but if a company sells a product why would they not have any customer reviews available? I was just on their website to see what reviews were listed and they don't have any listed. Just curious...

If I was proud of my product I would.
