So a bought this trailer, obviously it needs a little bit more height cause well look:

I plan on flipping the axle to under the spring and have a question.

Can I just reuse all this stuff but have the axle how I want it?

    DF736736-B92A-44BE-9575-10E55DBE5266.jpg 639AB2E9-788F-47AA-962D-F7BAD97BEEBD.jpg

The perch looks like it’s welded to the axle, could I just rotate the axle 180°? I’ll get some new ubolts too I guess cause I think they’re welded to the nuts.
Or do I need to cut and reweld perch’s?

I guess this is the best place for this thread, If not move it please someone.

Some of those axles are camber'd a little for stability. I imagine if you rotate the axle it will have negative consequences. You could get longer springs and weld new hangers. That would also improve the ride but it would be cheaper to just get a new perch welded on. Might only cost you a few beers if you find the right welder.

Cause it doesn’t look as nice, duh.
I might take it to one of the local trailer dealers when I get it home and see what they think. But for now it’s on the mountain probably until June.

What is you flip the axle for spring over then rotate 180 to get the camber back? As in left tire wouod now be on right side....Or am I invisioning this wrong?

The proper way would to be weld new perches on the axle. Rotating the axle won't do it. You could also put 12" wheels on it.

For some axles on campers they make a kit to accomplish exactly what you want to do. I had my axle flip done by a local dealer.

I think it would be a lot better, just for clearance and everything.

I drug the back bumper of the camper on the pavement pulling out of the gas station yesterday. Not a big deal, just annoying.

So question, cause I’ve been thinking. What do you mean by cambered?

I went to tractor supply the other day and one of their axles was slightly bent like an “n”, is that camber? I don’t know.

If my axle’s straight all the way around I should be in the clear for that right?
