for now it is 3 8's in a sealed box that goes across the whole back. The child restraints are still there and the box was built around them so they werent taken from the wall (but not able to be accessed). If there is ever a child on the way, maybe 2 in a ported box will be built.

I thought that when you have a bow that meets minimun spec as far as size, the box should be sealed with and filled with fiber so the box "appears" to be larger to the woofer..

???? who has a box thats at minimum? I know some people do polyfill.

Anyways...The box sounds good...not quite as loud as would like (guess thats the issue with sealed)...but you can def feel the music....and they are only set at 600rms split between the 3. (set with a DMM at 3/4 max volume with a 50hz track)...they have another 300rms they can still use between them. :p

I think the enclosure may be just a hair too big for these 8's. Not sure though. How would I be able to tell? In the beginning it was being built for 2 ported, but someone said add 1 more and go sealed.

Look up the enclosure requirement from the speaker manufacturer. Multliply the requirement by the number of speakers.
Calculate your box volume, internally. Height X width X depth / 1728.
When calculating the depth you will need to find the median since it is tapered, subtract the smaller depth from the larger, divide that number by 2 then add that to the smaller number. After you figure internal volume you will need to subtract the driver displacement and any gussets that are in the box. If all of this doesnt really makse sense just shoot me the numbers, outside dimesnions is fine and the material thickness of the MDF used.

ive got the internal..its like 1.92 ...I havent calculated the little brace going over the seat bracket..that will take some out as well...so I am thinking probably somewhere around 1.9.

The manufacturer doesnt even give a spec for those speakers....not even in the manual :/ Most people just run them ported around .7 per speaker.

So I am probably a little big for them in a sealed box.

Sounds like they might be a little on the high side, since they run ported around .7 they are likely around .45 sealed. Take one speaker out and put a couple temporary pieces of wood inside and see if it sounds better

I just got to thinking...I have the LPF filter on the amp turned all the way to the left...which goes from 40hz-180hz. This means that anything 40hz and below is only going to the subs right? I got to thinking...I bet that has alot to do with the sound....lol

80-100 should be the sweet spot for 8's

If I am correct on my thinking...I can just turn the LPF on the amp all of the way up to the 180 hz and let the HU control it (which is set to 80 on the subwoofer HU output)

Typically the amp filters are better, wouldn't hurt to set it accordingly as well

Don't run LPFs on both the HU and the amp, pick one. From what I understand multiple LPFs will create some phase distortion.
