In the middle of all this, a buddy shot me a link to a doublecab that popped up. I was the first to call. A 2001 doublecab prerunner, 270k km’s on it, and a TRD prerunner package. For $1200. I was the first to call. 2 hours later, I picked up Kate, and grabbed her new truck. I think she’s finally forgiven me, 5 months later.

Next trip was down south. These trails we ran were some of my favourites, until the previous gov’t shut the whole area down. Thankfully, the new gov’t is on-board with tread lightly, and designation of and opening of trails for recreational use by all. Including motor vehicles. So we took a couple gov’t planners with us to show them why we wanted the trails, and why they should be open. End result, two re-opened trails, and more to follow.

Sub'd. Awesome to see a taco not wasted to a junk yard. Looks like you are using it the right way too!

Thanks!! I lived out of my 95.5 taco in my 20's working Alberta oilpatch. It's awesome to be back into one and wheeling nit again, checking out trails I did years ago, and trails I meant to do. I'm looking forward to getting back out once I've got this thing geared, locked, and cleaned up.

Day 2 was more good trail. Start in Alberta, nice hidden mountain pass into BC, run south, over another pass, back into Alberta.

More day 2. Some pics of Vil’s truck. @geoscoutadventures on the gram. Last pic is his of the pos too. Fun to see how capable these 2nd gen trucks actually are! Still like the size of my mini truck tho!

So, next up, we headed back into the Bruce valley, to where we got skunked by avalanche remains earlier this summer. And we made it to the end of the valley, and pretty much, aside from some heavy equipment maybe, the end of the drivable trail. There’s a couple goat trails beyond, but they go up to caves in mine shafts. So, I’m pretty happy with having gotten to where we did. It took a fair bit of work to make the trail passable to trucks and jeeps again tho. Probably been a decade since anything other than a quad or dirt bike, maybe a side by side, has been here.

And this was our reward. The lake. Need to bring some kayaks next time up, and camp here. Pretty amazing.

And if you look close, at the right side of the lake, you can see the trucks and jeeps parked.

We cleared out of the Bruce trail, and headed up to spend the night at the toe of a glacier, where the Canadian Olympic team used to train in the 90’s.

The creek was fairly calm. Later on in the summer it got boisterous enough no one was crossing it.

We wanted to get to the glacier itself, but ran into a bit of a snow bank took us 2 chainsaws, lots of shovels, and a couple hours to get thru it!!

The cabin down below is pretty much first come first serve for staying in. Worth the drive!
