Some 1x1 square tube or angle iron fits in the channel at the top of the bed rails to stiffen things up - I would use angle iron to make access to fasteners easier. I ended up welding nuts inside, but think angle iron is the way to go.

Man, that's wicked. Mine's the short short box, so I didn't throw anything in to stiffen it up. I'll see how it feels when I open the tailgate. Thanks!

It's been a hell of a build, thrash, build, thrash, rebuild. I'm planning to stay here. I have an 83 that I really want to go all out on.

Looks so much better than leaving it white, in my opinion.

Had to cut in the rear harness I got with the box. And had nothing but issues with shorts and ghost light ups on the tail lights. So I ordered a new set of bubble lights and threw my LED’s in them. Hooked up. No issues. Thank Christ. Took them all apart again, and soldered and sealed the harness. Glad that’s done.

Gotta burn in the front most box mounts tonight, get my winches on, and lights on the front bumper. Almost ready for some trails.

Gas door and nozzle complete. I also reworked the brace against the frame and the box mount to take some of the stretch. With the flare, it’s definitely put a bit of strain on the flex hose. I’ll keep an eye on it, may have to extend it at some point.

And the box is mounted solidly. Front box mounts are welded to the frame, and she’s bolted down.
