Motor and trans are out!! Now to get the cab blocked up, and slide the prerunner frame out. I’ll move the pos frame back to the garage, and weld, clean and paint it, before moving it under the truck. Man, the more I’m looking at this frame, the more I’m happy I kept the pos’s frame. I’m truly shocked this frame has not broken yet!!

Monday night, got the pos’s frame back to the garage, and started cleaning it up. Tuesday night, continued to clean it, removed brake lines, gas tank, all gas lines, and rear harness. I have the trail gear frame box kit, and with a couple other pieces, she’ll get a fully boxed frame. The factory gas support cross member is getting sandblasted, then I’ll weld it in.

Removed the Xtracab rear body mounts and front box mounts, I’m going to clean them up, and weld them on in the double cab locations.

i have a dozen aerosol cans of the Corrtec, so, I’ll do the best I can. There’s quite a few holes in the frame, factory, not rust, so I should be able to get it well coated.

Swung the frame around on Friday, so we could get to welding. Toyota Tacoma TRD wheelbarrow anyone?:militarypress:

I bought the trailgear frame box kit, and the frame reinforcement plates for the outside of the frame. I don’t like how trailgears kit leaves the section of the frame at the gas tab I crossmember an open “C” channel frame, so we cut the crossmember out, plated that section, blasted the crossmember, and welded it back into place. I also chose to not relocate my rear shocks, instead, coping around the shock mounts. I did use their supplied tube crossmembers, and threw away my rear one. I will be mounting a winch back here, under the bed of the truck.

Man, that is on my must do list. I was hoping for this summer, late, but with the COVID crap, I'm at 32 hrs a week. Blessing in that I have time to hammer this out, a curse in that the bank account goes the wrong way feeding 5 teenagers:rofl:

I cannot remember who mentioned it, but on one of the 1st gen Tacoma FB pages a guy mentioned welding out the front bumper mounts. So while the thing is apart, they got welded.

A couple daylight shots of the extra plate we cut and fit up, and of the gas tank crossmember blasted, and burned in.
