Sorry to revive an old thread here. I need to change out my oil pan bolts, studs/nuts. Is there actually a torque spec for the studs? Any clue what that might be or where I can find it? Any help would be appreciated. Trying to do some preventative maintenance as stuff is getting pretty rusty. Planning on doing these along with my trans pan bolts.

Be careful with the pan bolts, I know the tranny ones are in inch pounds not foot pounds, guessing the oil pan ones are too. Super small torque values.

Some who’ve worked with some rusty bolts have recommended buying a supply of new to have on hand just in case some break during removal. I personally recommend a soak in PB blaster or equivalent the day before you do the job.

I actually broke down and took it to the dealer to have them install all new bolts, studs/nuts. Honestly I don’t have the proper tools(yet) to deal with broken bolts/possible rethreads etc.. I am planning on doing the transmission pan in the next few days with all new bolts. They are in quite a bit better shape than the op bolts were. And I have my small torque wrench, but good looking out. Then I’m going to get it ready for winter by slathering all the metal down with a bunch of marine grease.
It burns my ass because I dread the dealership for anything. You don’t even want to know how much they raked me over the coals. It’s ridiculous. Got home kinda late tonight so I’m going to check their work in the morning :annoyed:
