Didn’t know where to put this but around my area we have one off-roading place and that’s Rausch creek. If always wanted to take a trip out west it just looks so amazing. What are the trails in Colorado like? I’ve seen a lot about alpine trail loop, Imogene pass, and engineer pass. Anybody have any recommendations? Kinda looking for easy to moderate trails nothing to crazy. Still gotta drive 2k miles back home haha.

Depends on what part of CO you’re planning on visiting! We have so much to offer all over the state.

Given the crazy amounts of snow the mountains have been getting this is looking like a short Wheeling season, July- Sept/ Oct if were lucky.

Not much will be fully open in the high country, getting dumped with snow and more on the way. You'll have to check trail statuses regularly or ask in the BS section

B Roll Offroad on youtube has a ton of videos of trails, posts weekly... we used these as a guide when we went out to CO last summer.... even asked him some questions and he is quick to respond.

Whats up! I am very familiar with Rausch Creek and the good ole Paragon for that matter. Use to be my stomping ground back in the day when KOH started doing the east coast qualifier, etc.

You will be blown away if you come to Colorado and do some trails. Hate to break it to you, but Rausch will never be interesting to you after you come out here.

Some of the trails that you mention are similar to blues at Rausch. Mainly very rocky like the the pole line in Rausch if I remember correctly. Imagine Colorado west of Denver like a massive Rausch Creek though. There are forest service trails and county roads all over the place to explore. The biggest difference out here is some of the inclines and declines can be extremely steep. I can't think of a spot at Rausch that compares, but I know Paragon and some decents that could be pretty crazy going down long telephone line trails.

Narrow down what part of CO you would like to visit. The Alpine Loop is in the San Juan Mountains in South West CO. Personally my favorite area of CO. Happy to give input on any trails though and shoot me a DM if you have any specific questions.

    Cheers!

There is so much to see in south west Colorado. If your just interested in just offroad trails then I would recommend staying in ouray if you interested in more then look at Cortez. You can still do the offroad form here but you are closer to the national parks, 4-Corners,Silverton train etc. And your only about 2 1/2 hours from Moab

everything that Ive been looking at has been near Ouray. But thats sweet I didnt even consider being that close to some of those places thanks! I plan on doing a ton of research for this trip but i loved abandoned towns and the scenery thats why I picked Colorado.

I think Alpine loop is the best cluster of old towns/ mining structures in CO.

any potential problems with Trail Ridge Road being open due to all of the snow you've been getting?

can't wait for the melt to head my way and keep the mighty Mo flooded for rest of summer :(

It will be opened, too much tourism impact if it wasn't. Plus they have huge snowblowers attachment to do it.
