Last Friday my wife pumped diesel fuel into gas car. The tank contains 1/3 ratio of diesel/gas after the pump. She got less than 100 miles on Saturday. It now has the code p2097 which is "run rich". It now has 3/4 of the tank. I've been trying to siphon it out but it is impossible to insert the tube deep down to the tank. Should I fill up the tank and keep drving?

    Comments are appreciated.

Pull the tank off and drain it if you can't get it all with a syphon. An old boss of mine did that to his f350, pulled all the mix out and diluted it with more gas an used it for the shop van. Van died shortly thereafter. Do not use the diesel in a gas emgine

I recall someone doing this a few years back. He got a fuel line disconnecting tool and removed the fuel line under the hood, then jumped the fuel pump relay and pumped the tank out into gas cans. It's near impossible to thread a hose down the filler due to the rollover ball.

Well if the engine still is running a 100 miles later .

Myself I would just keep adding fresh gas and keep diluting .

Then you could have your wife drain the tank.

You don`t mention what type of engine

If your going the tank draining route then you may as well change the fuel filter have the injectors cleaned

What happens most of the times is the fuel will foul the plugs and the engine will no longer start

Much worse putting gas in a diesel engine
