    I think your feeling a common issue on most Toyota vehicles. My 2nd gen did it, my 3rd gen, my 4Runner BARELY does it but it's there, also most of the Toyota loaners I've driven.
    Sounds like your taking about the torque converter going into 1/2 lock but it's just a guess

    I guess I should explain .
    For the gentleman that like to swim with their trucks in water and mud , take into consideration that the vent at the top of the transmission gets plugged up . Now your transmission cant vent to atmosphere which creates all kinds of additional heat that cant escape. You create an instant time bomb . Same goes for your diffs and the transfer case . They are all lightly vented to say the least

    I guess Ill see what they say on tuesday. Since it is still under warranty, i called one of the local toyota deals directly so its their problem now. When I was explaining the issue to him he kinda had that "S.O.B...." sound in his voice so im guessing this is not the first time they have heard this.

    Try tapping the break pedal when you feel the kick . You are not actually hitting the brakes , you are manipulating the brake switch
    Keep your right foot steady on the gas and gently tap the brake pedal with your left foot .
    This will turn the converter off for a short period of time . The kick will come back shortly after you release your foot from the brake
    Does the kick go away when you tap the break pedal ?

    I cant say as I do this all the time with earlier trucks and no limp mode . Newer trucks have a faster ECM . With this said I need to try it on a 16 .

    If the kick is still noticeable after a break switch manipulation , you dont have a converter issue . Concentrate on tires and driveline

    not saying it's your issue but it's sounds kinda like what I experienced. More of a surging feeling then a noise.

    If you tap your break pedal , it will turn the converter off for a short period of time . If your kick remains , after this test ,it is not a converter issue . If the dealer says its a converter problem after they repeat the same test " leave " that dealership and never go back .
    1 Crappy spark plug will create some of the symptoms with a kick .
    A proper diagnostic is what needs to be done next .
    Keep in mind that our transmissions are completely computer controlled and they are designed to operate at optimum efficiency with an engine thats designed to operate at optimum efficiency .

    I did just come back from the store and the after the pedal tap the issue still remained. The only way it goes away is if I punch the gas more.

    If it is torque converter issues, would a different rpm lockup type torque converter be better? I dont know alot about this stuff but enough to make me dangerous;) im more of a standard new process kinda guy.

    Your problem is too difficult to diagnose over a keyboard .
    If anything , do you have a reputable transmission shop that you can take the truck to for a free road test ?
    As mentioned , those guys test drive trucks with issues like this every day .
    You are going to get some good feedback from an aftermarket shop and its going to be free feedback
    Test drives are free .

    where I live, not really. The island is fairly small so the normal go toos would be the dealership themselves. I may give the offroading shop down the street from me a call but they normally specialize in suspension

    The new Toyota Tacoma computer is responsible for torque converter applications . You could install a beefed up converter clutch , but would still have to rely on Toyota,s programming for the converter to lock and unlock or partially lock up
