I kinda want an old 1970's short bed chevy k10 to turn into a rig. Mostly cause my dad's first pickup was a '73 c10 stepside short bed with the manual 3speed on the column and the 305 v8. I would love to get something similar, the k10 of course and build it with my dad. The reason I am throwing this out is cause the full-size pickups were smaller back in the day and nearly indestructible when it came to being beat up. Especially those old Chevys. Enough about my hopes and dreams, anything with that straight six would be good for you IMO.

the taco is still getting built, but nothing short of a SAS is going to get it where i want it to be... and as much as i use a trail rig i don't consider it to be a waste, unless it don't work, which is why i asked for advice

Are you gonna drive the Jeep to where ever you go? Or you plan on just towing it with a truck?

IMO, get that thing! That's a really nice jeep! With BFG Krawlers  I love those tires....

i live in northern MI, so there are a ton of trails within a 50 mile radius of my house i would like to have a legal vehicle to drive to those, but i would trailer it if i went to and ORV parks or anything of the like.

Depends on how much you want to throw into it, but if you could find a 2006 Rubicon Unlimted that would be a pefect trail rig. Its got the longer wheelbase and it is more narrow then the new JKs
