Post Pics Of Your Tacoma In The Mountains

Man, awesome pics. We will be in the area in 3 weeks or so. I sure hope we can find some of these spots.

Hey, If you are thinking about doing Pearl Pass, consider going in fall as well. The most beautiful expo/overland trip I've ever done started in Marble, went over Schoefield pass, devils punchbowl, to Pearl Pass and into Aspen. I've got a TON of pics of that trip... can you post up full trip report pictures in this thread!?

 

That was exactly my plan! But to go in the opposite direction, hiking Castle and Conundrum peaks and then head over Pearl into CB and then over through Carbondale. I am hearing that there is an impassible rock by the punch bowl currently, from Bushducks:

7/19/13 - Due to heavy rains in the area the trail is blocked by a rock/mud slide about 1/2 mile west of the Devil's Punch Bowl. We dug out a small opening to allow an ATV to pass. But had to turn around in our jeep.

 

When/where? Would be happy to meet up and show you some of the local fare.

If all goes as planned, there will be 4 or 5 rigs coming from Lander Wyoming. We expect to arrive in Ouray on Sunday, the 11th at around noon. This will give us 4 full days to explore as much of the area as possible with Thursday evening, the 15th being our last night in CO.

Just started reading a book named "Colorado Backroads and 4WD Trails". It lists 20 "trails" in the Ouray-Silverton-Ophir-Telluride area but I don't think it has some of the trails in your pics. Or if it does, they are calling them by different names.

For sure we want to explore Black Bear Pass, Governor Basin, Poughkeepsie Gulch and Mineral Creek. Also in our discussions we have talked about doing Imogene Pass, Engineer Pass, Cinnamon Pass, Ophir Pass and Yankee Boy Basin.

Unfortunately, there isn't anyone in our group that has been to these places before so we would certainly welcome you if you want to join us for this.

I always wanted to go see Telluride.

 

I haven't done all of those, but I used to live down in that area. Imogene, Engineer, Cinnamon, Governor, and Yankee Boy are all awesome. I have been on those. The other ones though I have not, but I heard they are pretty awesome. Also check out the San Juan mountains, its a little N of Ouray, right outside of Ridgway. There is some awesome reservoirs back there and some amazing fly fishing in that area.

Gotcha. These trails are further north, off of I70. I would love to make that trip, but sadly I have work getting in the way of my fun.

This book, but without the "Northern" on it? If so, it should have them in it.

Love this thread! Can't wait to do some of these runs y'all have posted. Maybe when I get some more armor and bigger tires...and more spare time.
