Figured we could get a thread going with a collection of hunting rigs. Hunting is pretty much my big obsession/passion in life. With a collection of rigs we could share ideas on what works or doesn't work for you as far as mods, suspension and whatever else you may have done to your trucks to make them better in the field.

For the last 6 years or so my main hunting rig was my Yamaha Rhino. As I get older, though, I want more comfort. I'm done with the days of 15 mile rhino rides at 2AM with no widshield or heat in 15° weather. Or driving through mud and having big nobby tires through mud all over the entire interior. Let's not even talk about rain. Haha. I'm over it.

One of the big reasons I went with a Tacoma was to have a much more comfortable and convenient hunting rig. So let's see what you got!

Here's mine. No major mods yet. I have a full set of Icon extended travel shocks on the way from demello offroad. Still racking my brain on what UCA to go with. Suggestions welcome BTW.

And of what would a hunting related thread be without a picture of dead animals!

Great thread. I had a jeep that I loved but as the family got bigger the hunts became more complicated a change was needed. So last year I bought a 14 Tacoma Baja. I love it. I have a list of mods I would like to do but at this point I have an AAL, weather tech floor mats, G4 fold a cover, and clazzio seat covers. Over the next year or so I plan on putting some ditch lights on (easier to find those little hunting trails), plate rear bumper (always a weakness of trucks) and and some new tires (likely 255/85s). I will post some pix later today.

That's all on my list as well. I was dead set on the 255/85's until I realized they only come in E rating. Now I'm second guessing it. Not sure I want to go with such a stiff tire.

Here is mine. First year with this rig, so the tally to date is one elk, one coyote, about 40 ducks, and just one goose. I have yet to haul the ATV anywhere, and the factory rack gave me great pause the one time I hauled the kayak. I have so far used the winch mostly to move downed timber and fallen boulders off the path.IMG_20150918_151910.jpg DSCN0103.jpg DSCN0123.jpg DSCN5557.jpg DSCN5469.jpg

Above is a picture during a elk scouting trip. Below is a picture of my seat covers. They are great and are easy to clean after a camping/hunting trip. image.jpg

I only upland bird hunt anymore. Used to live for Big Game but now pretty much look at it as an interruption to bird season, part of getting older I guess LOL. So my truck is setup around the dog. Went with AC because wanted a longbed but didn't want the extra foot in length for trail use.

Ripped out the backseats, head rests and a built a platform to store the Hi Lift and store the guns out of sight.

Sliders I had built with zero offset, more concerned with protection from lateral slides into trees on frozen trails than pivoting off boulders. And had expanded steel put in to act as steps for the dog and allow snow and mud to drain.

ARE MX topper and sometimes sleep in it. Put OEM mat in and built a half platform in the front half for storage. Slideouts are nice but I have found I prefer the headroom so I put the storage above me. The depth is equal to my pants inseam length.

Replaced the corrugated inner tailgate piece with a piece of solid steel then attached rubber mat to it so the dog could get a better grip when doing post hunt inspections. And warmer on my butt when sitting on it after the hunt enjoying a short drink, after the guns are put away of course! One tired pup...

Had Avid OffRoad built a custom light bar into a brush bar for me. It worked well when a lady slammed into me backing up. But it also allows me to turn around on tight trails until I "bump" into a tree without damage. Also have the Avid rear bumper guard.

Lost the antenna to my truck, and most of the clear coat, last week someplace down this trail
