I'm planning on getting one of these with the side steel replacements at the same time. Does anyone have a softtopper with this? I think the lip might keep the hangover from the topper rather than having to Velcro it.

@DoorDing did a full review of our side rail caps with a SofTopper, but I'll be damned if I can find it.

Quick question, i already have the mobtown tailgate plate and cap but the cap sits too low for my tonneau cover. I noticed your cap sits stock height (which is what i want). Will your cap work with the mobtown reinforcement plate?

This is great! I've had my truck for about a year now, and my cap is starting to come apart...

I have an installation question - to avoid sticking the foam to the tailgate itself - could you adhere it to the underside of the cap?

Do you make one where the lip is shorter? so visually it matches more what the stock is? where the lines match the side rail overlap? would probably reduce that gap that people are commenting about as well.

If you read deeper into the comments, you'll see that pretty everyone feels that the lip is a non issue. Once you see it in real life, you'll see what we mean.

The people who were complaining about the lip, haven't ever actually seen the cap in person.

Don't know if any vibrations would wear the tailgate paint down, if installed this way.

i'm not sure that it would - if it's snug - it should, in theory be fine - any vibration would have to be over a long period of time - or perhaps a rubber gasket would be better with this method.

Mobtown is a nice piece but my issue is instead of wrapping around the top of the tailgate, it just ends so when you open the tailgate, that lip is hitting your hand. So the edge of it is parallel with the top of the tailgate.

A little late, but yes I have the Softopper on my 2014 long bed. It is FANTASTIC! I have both the steel rail caps and tailgate cap. I opted to hard mount my Softopper by drilling for 1/8" rivets after I marked the rail locations. You can see my thread/pictures somewhere if you look at my past posts.

I regret that I have not been back since then and I'm only here because I'm looking at trading up to a 2017 AC LB and I want to do the same setup on it!!!!!

I live on the coast and the truck sees the beach quite a bit. How has the powdercoat held up overtime for people?

We've had good powder coat in the past, and we've had not so good. It will always vary from shop to shop, and we will most likely always farm that part out.

The shop we're currently working with is very good. They have an automated powder coat line that acid etches to prep the surface.
