    Did you use the Mobtown off-road hardware upgrade kit? Or buy the riv nut inserts and bolts washers yourself? Any guidance on the riv nut inserts and tool you used To set the riv nut inserts in place?

    I went to Fastenal and got a 25 pack of rivnuts. I used my 3/8 drive impact. couple flat washers and the wrench for my angle grinder (has a 1/4 inch hole in the end. it helps keep the rivnut from spinning) with a grade 8 bolt 1/4-20. So it went rivnut the grinder wrench two flat washers. I also used a little oil on the bolt threads when seating. Here is a link of kinda how I did it only difference I didn't use the nut. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AfQIYLSKGwI

    @KB Voodoo

    Any chance you could give me a quick dimension? I'm looking to cover some dings at the top of my tailgate, right below the stock plastic cap.

    Follow up question: would do a custom longer version if your standard cut is too short to cover the dings?

    Thanks!

    It comes down approx 0.75" from the top of your tailgate. Hopefully that will get the job done for you, because we're way too swamped to do any custom orders.

    We don't make those. We aren't convinced that they actually add any real strength. All they add is unnecessary weight.

    I ordered the cap yesterday, and have a quick question.

    Edit: Deleting question, figured it out.

    Just ordered. Thanks for the promo code. It covers part of the gawd awful shipping costs to Hawaii.

    Thankfully Fedex lessens the blow from shipping quite a bit.

    I think I've had my cap installed for about 9 months now. Fit is excellent and it is well designed. The gap that some here have voiced concern about is not a problem- in fact, it gives a nice grip for your fingertips when closing the gate.

    My only gripe is with the quality of the finish. My cap was delivered with a satin finish (powdercoat?), NOT the textured finish that the pictures show. It very quickly began to peel away from the edges, and the door of my cap has worn away much of the coating where it rests against the cap. The inner side has also worn badly from loading cargo. It's now badly rusted. I guess I'll try to sand the rust off at some point and re-coat it with some type of bedliner that will hopefully be more durable. For the price, I would have appreciated if it could have made it a full year without rusting badly.

    @KB Voodoo

    Question for ya. I'm thinking about getting one of these, but have a Softopper with the velcro on the tailgate that holds the rear flap down. I can't really tell from the pictures, but will the texture of the coating you use interfere with the adhesive of velcro strips?

    We use a smooth semi gloss finish now, so it will stick well.

    Yeah but that requires, like.... effort, and stuff.

    I really should do some magnets though.
