Powder Coated Tailgate Cap System by KB Voodoo

I like where your head is at. I'm considering a Softopper, but keep reading about folks with sealing/mounting/whatever issues with the front and back.

How much more would it need to be extended to work with the back flap? And, is it better to have the straight across version of this cap system to mate with the Softopper back flap, or would the upcoming curved cap work better? I've not seen a Softopper in person yet, so I don't know.

I have a feeling that once people see the current version, there will be no demand for a version with a smaller gap.

The gap in the middle of the tailgate on the current version is about 1/8". The gap on the ends exists because of the curve on the tailgate. Pretty much nothing can be done about that.

I put too much emphasis on the end gap in the first post of this thread. It really is a non-issue, and it looks great in person.

 

Once my soft topper comes in I should have an idea on how much extra is needed to come down

 

I'm loving this more and more....when do you think you can post the install instructions (I'm not being pushy)? I'm sure they are pretty simple. How many of the first run have been spoken for?

 

I'll try to post them tomorrow. It's super easy to install, and it uses the factory hardware, but instructions are always good.

 

There will be a package deal available with the bed brackets as well, for guys who REALLY want to spruce up their truck beds.

I'm thinking $175 plus shipping for two brackets and a cap.

Shipping will be expensive though, with an 18 pound package that measures 58" long.

This is a great idea and the price is certainly right. Very nice work. These are simple but effective.

Did you ever get any feedback on the length that would work for attaching a softopper instead of having to put the velcro on the paint?

 

Op 1st of all wow looks like great quality... I want. But I kind if agree with the majority the gap is a Lil 2 much. If redesign happens I am in all the way.
