Excellent post. I really appreciate that details there. That is very similar to what Im crafting now. Fingers crossed it works just like that for me. Any tips? And may I ask what charge controller you use?

Im hesitant to tie into my electronics yet. For now, im too scared to with an untested setup so soon before a big critical trip. I want my failures to be isolated, so to speak, so ill be going straight to a spare 12V truck battery. Mostly so I dont ruin something so close to my long 2,000+mi remote winter drive out of here. In the future I hope to integrate it all. Im definstately eyeing that same Yeti!

Planning a 3-4 week western adventure with my 14-year old son next summer. Going to try to do it all out of the truck, no hotels, this or that. A portable power station that I can easily recharge when driving seems like the answer to a lot of my needs. "Just in case" type of stuff, when out in Leadville or the Idaho wilderness areas or whatever.
