    Actual Suggestion:

Drain the gas tank, put desiccant packs in your truck for a long time, soak all that water. Make sure it's super good and dried out and the fuses are all in good shape, then reconnect the battery and go to town with a multimeter until you find where the fuckup is.

Sunk mine that deep on the passenger side. I was lucky, only things I f'ed up were my air bag sensor and passenger seat occupancy sensor. Mine stayed running the whole time I was in the water. Got pulled right out, like 5 min in the water is all. No running problems, but my truck never stalled out in the water.

If you're getting a lean code, maybe check fuel lines for kinks or something from extraction. You say air filter is dry, did some come with undone on the intake tract? Just trying to help. Seems to lean out up in the rev range, did something get wet that can crumple shut when vacume is high?

Did you spray contact cleaner on the gas pedal assembly? It may not be able to send a proper signal for WOT.

I had the same code, but didn't sink my truck. It turned out to be the fuel pump. Check fuel pressure.

Mine never stalled either, ran continously.

This is an interesting thought, I will try this as soon as I get home

Everything is now 100% dry. It looks like new. All connectors/fuses/relays have been sprayed/aired. Dried put much better than I thought it would.

    Thanks for your help everyone!

Gunna try to pickup a fuel pressure gauge today. Also check gas pedal sensor. Also check resistance on all o2 sensors and the fuel pump resistor which is upfront and was under water.

I will drain the tank to be certain, but i really think if there was water in the fuel I would feel it running rough 100% of thr time.

Where will you put the gas if you drain the tank? You can't just dump it.

I didn't suggest draining it - just driving it as it is running rough until that gas is used up.

X2 I had a similar problem years ago on a GM. (please no jokes :p ) the fuel pump checked ok at idle but not under heavy load during heavy acceleration.

My concern would be long term electrical health. I work for a HVAC controls company, If we send a control module back that got wet, they won't fix it anymore. I've had modules get sprayed with boiler water and a few years later they looked really nasty and corroded. Not that your creek water is as bad as boiler water, but you get my point.

I floated a Jeep Cherokee once half way up the doors... company car :) .... it kept running and surprisingly was pretty water tight. My brakes didn't work for quite a while, but I made it across with no damage.

I hope that it turns out well for you... just another pay to play lesson I guess.

Another member got his truck in water about like you. Had some electrical issues he was working on and then it caught on fire a few weeks later.
I would recommend you carry a fire extinguisher all the time.

Can anyone explain to me the best place to check for fuel pressure? There is no test port, so I understand I need to install a T, but everywhere I can find, has quick connect fittings, which complicates things.

    Lots...
I believe that if the problem is when you hit the gas and want more power, this could be the issue...

    Have you tried it?

If your non-sealed battery or alternator was submerged, it would a good idea to test them for latent damage. Gas contamination is a definite possibility.

I did, but after looking at the assemby, it is clear that water was not nearly high enough to interfere with the throttle position sensor. I also watch the Tps on my OBD adapter and it shows good functionality.

Thanks moose. I have seen those pages from the FSM even though the links supplied dont work. I was hoping I didnt have to buy a $35 special toyota part just to check pressure.

I drove the trick for 50 km today, trying to burn through as much gas as possible. Truck is running great, and totally dry/no smell. I really have to Hammett on it to get the engine to hesitate. P0171 and p0174 showed up again today after clearing them.

Thinking alternator/starter are going to be a good idea to at least inspect. I can hear the starter solonoid pause for a second before engaging, so I'm guessing that starter unit is not sealed all that well.

I'm going to go a whole different direction since the OP apparently has enough money to risk a nice truck in crossing a river? Now if this was a post about a capsized boat then my opinion might be different. Anyway.

So put that excess money to good use! Give away the damaged truck to someone here who is a good mechanic, down on their luck, and would very much value and care for such a truck. They can fix it.

    Then buy a new truck.

    Have fun. Trash it. Repeat.

Sounds like you have the same problem as mine! Lol
water got into my interior, just on the front passenger side. Up past the door speakers. Which means up under the dash. Truck started back up, drove home. And it didn't want to start the next morning. Water shorted something and drained the battery. I also unplugged every sensor on the passenger side and sprayed ut with corrosive spray to get the water out. But still had a short, that drained the battery. Truck drove fine, but I had to disconnect the battery everytime it was going to be parked more than 6 hours. Any was 3 weeks of driving and not being able to pin point the issue. The truck finally caught fire cause of the short. Now it's in the dealer getting fixed.

If you have full coverage, I'd say file a claim. Before it gets worse

I Dont understand why everyone seems to think the truck is so trashed. You wouldn't be able to tell anything at all happened, other than my fuel issue.

My truck is not a pavement princess, it is not a dd, it is modifird extensively for for 4x4 and extended backcountry travel. Yes I am hard on it, it has been an awesome tough vehicle though. Its not like I just want to destroy it and give it away. I am not rich, I maintain it religiously and use it for exactly what I built it for.

I did not intend on getting stuck in the river, nobody ever does. The water was much shallower than appears, but the bottom was too soft. I sunk in, and in the process of trying to extract myself got off the shallow shelf.

Jesus people, if you have a pavement princess, I understand not wanting to use it in the backcountry. Some people build their truck for other things than getting to work or getting groceries.

End rant. Thank you again to everyone who has had constructive advice.
