I have a 2007 Toyota Tacoma and the right side lower dash power plug stopped working but the left side works fine. My question is how do I get the power plug out to replace it?

Is it Fused? Other wise you pretty much have to take a good portion of the dash apart to get to that plastic section. Not exactly fun but doable.

The same fuse feeds both the cigarette lighter and the power port. Yes, it's major disassembly to get it apart. Kick panel, lower dash panel, console, glovebox, climate control panel, radio surround, etc.

Pretty sure it is held in by 2 plastic tabs that you can pry with a screwdriver. Use needle nose pliers to assist with pulling and twisting the socket out.Disassembling the dash is not necessary.

Add a dental pick to what he said above. I asked how they change this at the dealership when mine was replaced under warranty.

Have you actually checked it to make sure it's bad? Before you go pulling it out put a meter on it and check. Mine gets wonky if the USB charging plug thing isn't seated a certain way but works fine most of the time. Make sure that the plug on whatever you're connecting is working too, remember some have a fuse in them. Sometimes you need to bend the side contacts out a little or clean up the end contact.

Both power ports are on the same fuse, no this is NOT the new style power plug that pulls out pushing on upper and lower tits which is why I said it was a 2007, I did not assume it has no power without checking it before posting this. I've been in the maintenance field for 40 years so I know how to check for power. So does anybody have information on the best way to get to this power plug without tearing the whole dash out?

Actually the problem is people read the info which was specific to my year model and gave me information for later models and yes you assumed I didn't search the site for my problem in which I did and got no results. And you being snarly back isn't helping your argument. I will try the information posted on that thread to attempt to get the power port out. Thank you.

Your '07 shouldn't be any different than my '05. I used the methods posted without taking apart the dash when I had to remove my cig lighter to tap the wires to install a usb charging port for my phone. The power port should be the same removal process.

If I remembered correctly, I was able to get the metal housing off a little past the neck and it wouldn't come all the way off. I used needle nose pliers on the metal housing slight twist and it came out. Not sure which direction though.
