Even before I did this mod I would open the window almost every time in the summer
It helps to get the heat out very quickly

There are a lot of 3rd gens in junkyards now, but the parts cost is still a lot more than doing the OP's build. The other trade off is replacing the entire window vs installing a bracket, cable retainers, etc.
I will start a build thread in the 3rd gen forum when I start on this project.

I used to do that all the time in my 1st gen. It was a PITA to keep opening and closing it with my 2nd gen access cab so I rarely opened it. Now after reading all the power window threads on TW, I want to get back to opening that window in my 3rd gen.

Just did a bunch of eBay part searching. I’d like to see if the the ops mod, kgarrets’ bracket and a 3rd gen motor and cable assembly could be a viable solution. Using the 3rd gen cable assembly instead of the ridgeline motor could save what appears to be the most pita part of the build. It already is what the ridgeline assembly needs to be turned into without the trial and error and buying cables. I’d love to have all the parts in front of me to play with. In writing this I think I have an idea how the 3rd gen cable could connect to the kgarret window bracket with a notch and slot. I love puzzles and was a bike mechanic for years, I love figuring stuff like this out.

You can always get the dodge or Ford regulator which the cables would probably be lond enough. For the kgarret bracket... you dont need a notch or slot..
Just need to clip the cable round end off and it slide right into the bracket

You would still need something like the OP's brackets to secure the cable sheath in the window frame.

I thought about making an aluminum window bracket that was a little longer than kgarrets and bend ears on either end. Cut up some square stock. Drill one end out for the cable ends and cut a notch into the other end of it that would side down between the bracket ears and glass to hold it in place.

The bracket from Kgarrett already has 1/2" pieces on each sides of the window which has a hole that you insert a clipped cable end that is secured in place by a set screw. No need to reinvent anything here its all there. Did you guys take a look at the pdf from the deseign of the window pull pull bracket. It is 1/8" thick where it sits on the window and then become 1/4" thick at both ends of the window

And YES you still need anchor brackets to secure the cable housings to the window frame otherwise you won't be able to get any tension in the system

You mod is by far the most economical way to add a power slider.

I read in another thread where someone spent close to $1,000 on new OEM parts. That got me thinking about going with used parts and then I got lucky and found the parts needed from a wreck with 35k on it in a nearby yard. Even with that, It will end up costing double what your mod costs.

I have the bracket drawing in front of me and was ready to look for one. I wasn't sure if Kgarrets was readily available and I like to fab things so I was just trying to think of a DIY way to make a bracket without a lot of machining that would accommodate the OEM cable barrel ends.
