I believe that Castrol is DEX III, any clarification on that?

I just use the cheap stuff from Wally World. Like 2.50$ a quart...

Just read the information on the container. You want a fluid that is compatible with Dextron 3. I use a Valvoline Dex/Merc for my 3rd Gen 4runner.

I just got this info from Castrol:

Thank you for contacting Castrol North America.

Castrol always recommends following the guidelines of the original engine manufacturer for the recommended fluid for use in your specific application. This information can be found in the vehicles owner’s manual or by contacting the manufacturer directly.

Castrol has several fluids that meet Dexron II or III.

Castrol Transmax Import Multi-Vehicle ATF meets Dexron, Dexron II, Dexron III requirements so it can be used with confidence in your power steering.

The following fluids also meet Dexron II and Dexron III:

    Castrol Transmax Dex/Merc ATF
Castrol Transmax High Mileage Multi-Vehicle ATF
    Castrol Transmax Dexron VI.
Thank you again for contacting Castrol. We value your patronage!

I have 2 extra quarts of this. Castrol says it's a go. For you Tacoma fanatics, am I good with this? Thanks

I used Castrol DEX/MERC in my truck and it works fine. There is no Dextron III on the market anymore, but anything labeled DEX/MERC will work in our trucks.

I used Valvoline Dex/Merc Synthetic ATF when I installed a new steering rack. No problems so far after 10k miles.

Will this stuff work? Pretty sure the answers yes, just want to make sure though.

Mercon V is compatible with Dextron 3. That will work.

Just look at the back of the container and if it says something to the effect of "compatible with Dex III" then you are good to go.
