question, my 99 power steering hose is leaking, the pressurized portion anyone know an easier way then dropping the axle to replace it? Also Toyota is asking 500+ for the hose with no aftermarket listing anywhere I go

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
You shouldn't have to drop the axle. If you can't find the aftermarket hose (I couldn't either), you can take the hose to a shop that makes hydraulic hoses. They may be able to build it for you.

I hate to revive an antique post, but I replaced my power steering pump in July and I still have a whining sound at idle and when I turn. It seems to get better as the truck warms up, but it still has a whine at idle. It is not a constant whine, but it is more like a steady rhythm of shitty sound. I took it to the shop that did the work and he suggested that it could be the "high pressure valve". It was a small hose that ran from the intake to the pump and in the center of the hose, there is a valve. I looked at my cousin's '04 Taco and he doesn't have any such hose. Was this a common problem that Toyota fixed?

Sounds like the Air Control Valve. Does your cousin have a 3.4L?
