Power window troubleshoot 2000 tacoma

The passenger power window quit working (neither switch on driver or passenger side will operate the window). I followed the service manual protocol first I removed the door panel and ran a hot wire to the window regulator motor, the motor works (when you reverse positive and negative wire the window will run in reverse also). Then I checked the switches with a test light and a volt meter, they seemed to work, when I hit the window button there was power on one wire and when I reversed the button I got power on the other, this worked for both switches. The only thing that looked suspect was a little corrosion on the drivers side set of switches. So I am stumped it seems like everything works, but when I plug it up and hit the switch i get nothing, I can't figure it out. I am inclined to just get a switch for the drivers side but it is a special order and most of the time they will not take back electronic parts. Any help would be appreciated.

Mine has a "disable" button on the drivers door panel the I have accidentally hit. Like you, I thought my passenger window had quit working altogether. If this button is depressed on yours, neither set of controls (driver or passenger) will roll up the window.

Verify that your disable button isn't depressed.

 

I do not see a disable button-what can I do next?

If you have power windows you have a "window lock" button on your master switch assembly on the driver's side. It's the upper right button seen here

 

The button has a red ring around it. IF you do not see the red ring, the window switch if OFF for the passenger window. When you see the red ring, the window should work.

 

yep, this has happened to all of us at one point until we realized what happened

 

I sure like my MANUAL windows. They are powered by ARM. Continue with your serious discussion on ELECTRIC windows.

 

Did anyone notice how old this thread is?! Kinda off topic, but at the same time not. Has anyone set up there ELECTRIC windows to all go down with just one touch, like the driver window? If so, how hard is it? On a 04 dc prerunner
