Picked up my Blue Sea 12 over the Black Friday sale, haven't installed it yet but this is an impressive piece of kit. Well packaged, chamfered edges, glad I went with PowerTrays

Now to start more research and piecing together all the electrical components for install...

My bluesea 12 tray and kit ordered today. Likely a spring install.

It is, and it didn’t interfere with the mounting plate at all. Sits above it.

The design has been modified from that prototype. The new vertical design reverts to the style and popularity of the original PowerTrays horizontal design.

My switchpro has been acting up the past month or so... basically when I turn the truck off the switch panel inside stays lit in green (not the color I choose). I emailed SwitchPro about this, and sent them pictures of my powertray setup. They immediately came back and said that I installed it against their instructions, including not installing it vertically and connecting a cable to my blue sea fuse box (like so many people have done), and likely said that I'm out of luck to get any warranty repairs for it.

I disconnected the blue sea and was going to order a custom length cable so that I could wire that directly from the battery... and opening up this thread saw the pictures about the vertically mounted switch pro tray.

If I get this redesigned tray, do I need to get any new cables over what I had before?

So I'm guessing they want us to connect the switch pros directly to a battery?

That's what they told me the installation instructions said after I sent them a picture of my installation. There's even an exclamation point in instructions saying "Do not connect any other power feeds to the power modules power stud!"

They kind of scolded me that I didn't install it as instructed, and that I was SOL. Mine still works fine, but like I said... the switch panel stays lit when the truck isn't on. Here's the video I sent to SP (there's a bit of unneccesary filler after I turn the truck on... skip ahead to the end to see it turn back to green):

The install kit for the vertical model contains (2) 2 foot power cables: one for the Blue Sea fuse box and the second for a direct connect to the SP.

So other than a possible scolding from SwitchPro on the continued use of a terminal block, the new design and kit are following the SP instructions.

I guess the best thing to do is just wire the terminal block and the switchpro both directly and independently to the battery.

Thanks for everyone's patience and I'm sorry I haven't been as active on Tacoma world lately. Between the holidays and school starting back up (I'm in my last semester to finish up the degree I started eight years ago :tinfoilhat: lol)
Anyways as you guys have noticed the new vertical mount was brought back to reflect the original design that started power trays. I appreciate everyone's advice and support on the redesign and I'm really excited with how it turned out.

I'm sorry to hear this, Switch pros in the recent months has taken a hard stance on their warranty requirements. If you already have the original S-P PowerTray setup and want to upgrade to the vertical mount S-P PowerTray then you'll want these items:
    • Vertical Mount Switch-Pros PowerTray
    • Blue Sea Dual MRBF Terminal Fuse Holder
    • 100A MRBF Fuse (for fuse block)
    • 125A MRBF Fuse (for Switch-Pros)
    • 2’ power cable, 4 AWG (battery to Fuse Block)
    • 2’ power cable, 4 AWG (battery to SP)

OR... If you want to save some money and you already have the 3 foot replacement power cable that I used to sell and you also still have the original red 2 foot power cable w/ inline fuse, supplied by switch-pros. You could use the 2 foot power cable to power the fuse block and my 3 foot power cable w/ MRBF fuse to power the SP (Probably a little longer than needed but you can always just give it a small loop and zip-tie it out of the way underneath the power tray and you won't even notice) this way you wouldn't have to get all the other stuff. Just the vertical mount tray and you're good

Is SP okay with the fuse block?

SP's only complaint about the fuse block was that it was grabbing its power from this their power stud via the positive stubby cable. The new installation kit now has separate power cables for each accessory.
