My father has been having back problems for some time now. He went in for a full physical last week, and went in this morning for his results. All checked out well, but he has horrific back pains where he can't hardly talk or move without screaming in pain. We demanded our "quack" of a doctor do a MRI on his back. About an hour after the MRI was taken we were taking him to the hospital. They seem to think that he has developed multiple myeloma, acute kidney failure, and has become severly anemic. He went in for cat scans tonight so now we get to play the waiting game. We should know the results of the scans tomorrow and then they are going to do a bone marrow test tomorrow. Please keep him in your prayers...

Well we finally got a diagnosis yesterday. He does have Multiple Myeloma. They are still trying to get his kidneys to function again. He will start radiation treatment Monday and as soon as his kidneys bounce back they will be planning a bone marrow transplant and kemo. I have a long road in front of me but I just hope it all works out with as little sickness to him as possible. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers!!!

As of yesterday there hasn't been any improvement. He was admitted with a creatinin level of 5.15. Now the level has dropped to 4.2 and has not moved in 2 days. The threat of Dialysis is being discussed more. I hope it doesn't come to that, but if it will make him better so be it. Not sure if its the pain meds, but he told me last night he has been hallucenating. Asked the nurse to set up an MRI for his brain today just to be sure, so as soon as he gets back from radiation treatment I will discuss that more with them.
