Preference: Badged or Debadged..?

I know what the abbreviation means....................

 

My Tacoma had those cheap plastic black overlays when I bought it. Port installed I think.
IMO they looked horrendous. The black badges on SSM stuck out like a sore thumb.
First mod was to get them off. If they were left stock (silver), I probably would have been ok leaving them on.

Can appreciate the clean look of debadged, but for me personally I wanted to personalize my rig and distinguish it from the other 80 bazillion Tacomas out there so went with custom badges...

 

Nobody is trying to make it look like an SR. They're taking their truck and removing the fugly stickers.

I'd remove everything if I could, would prefer a clean tailgate instead of the indented Tacoma across the tail gate, and the ugly Tacoma badge that's integrated with the passenger side dash. Ew

 

I would totally rebadge my truck, but I was stuck buying it with the $300 black out package...I think Im still gonna take off the OR decals.

Whether that's the intention or not, it looks like an SR.

 

If you think a sticker is the only thing that distinguishes an SR from an OR you're doing it wrong. Also if that's the case SR's look better.

Hardly. Unless the SR owner has tried to look like an OR by removing the chin spoiler, replacing the steel wheels, added side mirrors with blinkers, added fender flares, replaced the grill, and gone to a larger tire. Yep, removing the stickers certainly makes my OR look like an SR to everyone who knows so little about Tacomas that they could not even tell you what trim level SR is. About the same people who have to read the stamped tailgate to know I'm not driving a Ford Ranger.

 

If you ran for president in 2024 I'd vote for you.

 

I don't mind the trd badging but the badges and stickers weren't for me personally.

Lol, you are reading a whole lot of yourself into that interpretation. I don't care what people think I drive.

Someone who knows enough to spit off the Tacoma trim levels, but is ignorant enough to need badging to tell them what they are looking at is very special indeed as that puts them in the category of ignorant, ridiculous fanboy. It flags one as very myopic to think "99%" of the population gives enough of a rats butt to think 'hey, there goes a Toyota Tacoma SR.' The truth is that to about 50% of people it is just a truck. They may go to the trouble of adding a 'big' or 'small' label to it. Heck, with color matched bed caps I bet many people mistake trucks for SUVs, how horrific.

Ok, who am I kidding. I'm mortified that 99% of people think I'm driving around a 2.7L, 2x4, AT, SR with big tires because I have a micropenis. Jeez, how are you so perceptive. Time to go cry myself to sleep. The other 1% think I'm driving a Honda Pilot.

That logic is flawed. the other 99% of the world will think, "OH a truck" not "OH that an SR as it has no tacoma badging"

 

Went with different badges…
