Preference: Badged or Debadged..?

In addition to completely debadging the exterior, I also removed the hideous visor stickers.

 

Nice. I didn't "remove" mine....but they aren't there anymore.

 

I need to leave my windows down while doing 90mph to have mine come off too! I hate those damned lawyer letters!

After reading a bunch of posts on how people removed them (only to end up with "ghost" outlines of the decals anyway) I decided to just measure and cut some matte vinyl decal material to cover them. That way if I ever trade/sell the truck I can peel them off and the next owner can enjoy those stupid decals too.

 

It would be very nice! It’s almost like the decals you apply when doing model airplanes. I still have no true idea as to how to remove them.

 

There's a thread somewhere...or maybe it's just buried in the "What did you do to your Tacoma" thread, but I think most folks used a combo of heat gun and fabric Goo Gone to actually remove them. The color of your visors will determine how noticable the ghost outlines are that will surely remain.....which is why I didn't waste my time removing them. I just felt I'd be just as iritated by ghost outlines as I would a vinyl cover....especially considering the work it would take to get them off.

 

A hot iron, over an old scrap of cotton tee shirt, maybe a minute. Peel slowly.
I removed the visors first though probably can be done while in truck.

 

My visors are 2.5 months old so I don’t expect there to be much outlining yet. I’ll give it the old college try one day this winter while I’m snowed in with nothing better to do.

I would imagine, how well they're on there and how you get them off will vary depending on how long they've been on there.

 

Also, to get back on track fully badged and decaled exterior for me...just more subtle.

I went with the same. The Pro badge was terrible looking.

I bought an aftermarket blackout kit for all the badges and black tailgate letters. Took 15 minutes and $50 for all of it. The black looks 100% better against the Inferno paint. I'm not a fan of chrome anymore. Especially when its just plastic electroplated in cheap chrome. I replaced the grille because the plasti-chrome started pealing at 20K miles. Looked terrible.

 

Plus Inferno is the best color. Period.

Gen II here but the first thing I did was heat gun the TRD Sport off the sides of my 2014...
Second thing I did was install Husky front mud flaps. Both mods in first week of ownership.
In 2020 I removed all Plastichrome Tacoma, Toyota, and V6 badges. Only thing left on my pickup is the front Toyota symbol.

Totally a personal choice. They are fine on or off...
