All depends where u getting the parts from. I live in HAWAII so its hard to find donor parts. I was able to find front diff, cv axels, 4x4 crossmember, 2 front driveshafts, tacoma transfer case, 1 4x4 hub, 4x4 transmission for $800.
Then i sold the tacoma transfer case for $200 and ordered an fj cruiser case from california for $500.
Bought new 4x4 hubs from jersey hubs on tacoma world $300
Got a one piece driveshaft made for my 05 tacoma double cab longbed $600
Also misc parts like inchworm gear transfer case shifter knob, floor panel boot from yotamasters, etc.

Give steve a call at Rancho toyota used auto parts. real good prices

SAS or trade/sell it and buy a 4WD. For the amount of money and time you would have in a swap you'd probably come out ahead just buying a 4WD. Converting your truck to 4WD would kill the re-sell value.

    What hasn't been modified?
That's seams like a lot for the shaft?
But when I did my long bed they were talking it's at the max for a single shaft

To use the 4x4 tail housing you have to rebuild the tranny and it's cheeperr to just swap in a 4Runner/Tacoma tranny

So easy and cheap to do.
I mean, the question itself is kind of ambiguous.
    How much does it cost?
    Are you doing it?
    Is shop doing it?
    Are you in a rush?
    on and on.

If you're doing it yourself and take time to find parts.
1100 would be a decent number. Can be done for more or less.

When I did mine I swap to manual trans and 4x4 at the same time. It cost me about 5k .

Little this. Little that 4x4 Swap’d PreRunner
RST, rock solid toys, does. They do SAS’s but also have played a great roll in 4x4 conversions. They’re in Anaheim last I checked.

What about just putting in a rear locker...gotta be easier to achieve while still giving a lot more off-road capability. Unless you are looking to bury your truck in mud, though. Lol. Maybe others will chime in knowing more.
