So I've been a Gen 1 owner for about 6 hours now :D and I've been going over the truck with the proverbial fine toothed comb. One thing I could use some help with is the differential. I've read lots of posts here, but I still can't quite figure out what is going on in the rear axle.

It's a '99 Prerunner TRD 2.7 auto. So, what kind of diff do I have in there? Seems like it's an open 4.10, but I don't know. Any help is appreciated!

The author of that page seems to have some question, but it seems my set up is an 8" 4.30 2 pinion open diff. There is apparently no e-locker switch in the cab, but where I think it is supposed to be, there is a mysterious red light that is on all the time. I was looking around under the truck today (so cool to have a vehicle again that I don't have to lift to get underneath) and noticed something on the right side of the pumpkin. At first I thought it was for the e-locker but...?

I don't think 1st gen TRD Prerunners got factory E-Lockers... But yeh A PreRunner with a 4cyl and an auto is usually a 4.30 rear end.
If your still not sure you could always just go get it stuck and see how many tires spin when you goose it... :D

    They don't

Mysterious red light most likely would be an alarm or reminance of one (if I had to guess).

You took the picture of the wrong side of the axle if you're asking for help on whether you have an elocker or not. E locker actuator is actually a part of the third member, adjacent the driveshaft.

The object pictured to the right is the brake proportioning valve. Depending on the load in the bed it adjust the brake bias.

All TRD's, whether prerunner or 4x4, have the E-locker.

I stand corrected. The e locker comes on all V6 TRDs (prerunner and 4x4 alike).
The TRD 4 banger is apparently somewhat of a rarity and no locker.

1st gen TRD's (at least the v6) also gets a gas tank skid plate. Do you have a gas tank skid or did you get fucked out of that too?

The TRD package was an option for the trucks with the 2.7L (prerunner or 4x4), however, if it had an auto tranny, no e-locker. The trucks with 2.7L and 5-speed and TRD package have the factory e-locker.
