You might want to consider a 5speed tranny swap too since you are down for the do

Every one here in Co wants me to add a stick. But I'm not a stick kind of guy. I like my auto.

So in the image below it show that there is a ADD Relay for the non switch shifter. Where exactly is it at? Or I everything controlled by the ECU.

In my case it's a different story my was stick I swapped the stock ecu with the new 4x4 ecu so there isn't any relay needed. When angage the 4wd there isn't any indicators on the dash since my is a Prerunner converted but still sweet too sweet to drive.

Yeah I also have an ECU that I'm going to swap in. I was hoping that's all I needed. Then I stumbled onto that relay pic. Now it's having me think if I need one or not. I'll keep looking around. Thanks for the reply.

Do you have to swap the factory Ecu? I have a 1999 prerunner with a 3.4l automatic transmission. I've read that the auto tranny is a a340e while the manual is a r150f. Can I swap a manual tranny in with a 3.4l v6 that was factory automatic?

To kill the cell light your tranny has to go along with your ecu both auto or both manual

So if I have an auto tranny and I switch to a 4x4 auto tranny I don't need to switch ecu?

You need a 4x4 ecu to match up with your tranny

I never changed my ECU when I converted to 4x4. I slapped in a 99 4Runner Auto with Electric actuated TC into my 02 PreRunner. The only think that I had to swap from the 2wd transmission was the park/neutral safety switch as the connectors were different. It shifts at different points than the 2wd, but I think it's due to the 4Runner part. Been working great for 5 years now. As for the TC, I just wired in a Dual pole dual throw switch with a relay and indicator lights. Works and tells me if the TC is in 2 or 4.

Im also putting together parts for 4x4 swap. I have an -02 3.4 auto, i have everything but a trans (maunal hubs / non add front diff) and i have access to a -01 4runner trans. There seems to be a difference in the plugs. Was there any in your swap that were left unconnected or had to splice / lengthen?

When I did my conversion i put a 99 4Runner trans into my 02 Tacoma. They only connector I had to change was the Park/Neutral safety switch on the trans as the connectors were different. I had to cut and extend the speed sensor connector to be able to reach to the back of the transfer case, maybe 1.5 feet???

Not correct, the prerunner ecu is the same. My truck even has the 4wd control computer in the kick panel
