Prerunner to 4x4 Conversion

Truck is at the shop for the exhaust reroute and drove there with nocheck engine lights! Now that's a successful conversion.

Where'd you take it, and if you don't mind, what's the likely damage? I know @Mojo Jojo was looking for shops up in NOVA.

 

Took it to Hi-Flow in Manassas. I'll report back with cost

 

got a pic of the shifter without the cover? Im still trying to get mine in the right spot. I also have no codes!

 

I cut mine pretty short. My shifter has been a bitch with my crappy welder lol.

I finished my conversion like 2 months ago myself. looks good; sense of relief when the truck drives under its own power

 

This is what it looks like. I ended up removing the isolator and shortening it because it was interfering with the tranny shifter. Pic is before the last mod but angles are the same.

 

what size wrench is that? Is the from the pic you posted above it looks like there would be interference getting into 4lo

 

It was a 13 because the closed side of the wrench fit almost perfectly around the shaft. 4lo goes in no problem. if I angled it anymore forward it probably wouldn't though

 

My shifter is 1/2" cold roll bent, welded and shaped to fit. I also cut the hole in the floor large enough to get the shifter out from the cab without issues.

 

You guys are just showing off now to us poor mortals with an electric shift transfer case.

 

They have made me maybe do a little search for FJ cases close to me....lol

 

I needed neutral in the transfer case...

 

Man, do it. That and the FJ tube, totally eliminate all electrical bs. If I destroy my transfer case or actuator or anything, I’m making the jump.

 

I am seriously looking, but then it will never get put in because one of us doesn't know how to weld.... And it isn't you.

 

If mine expkodes I'm doing it too.

 

Once someone makes a shifter with all the correct angles, it would be nothing to make a jig off from it to make lots more shifters. Someone could do an exchange program on the shifters.

 

I have a large deadblow hammer. I got this.

 

I didn't have to do any welding for my FJ swap. I just cut a little more plastic. Doesn't look as clean, but it was weld free.
