Reading another thread got me to thinking. I have worked at high line car dealers and have been offered a job at a really high line dealer (65k+ just to get a base model). I have driven and worked on cars worth 95k to 100k.

I think a car for my self that is in the 35 to 40 range is breaking the bank. What do you guys consider high price tag.

It all depends on the bank. Too rich for me.

I think that any vehicle over $30K is too much for me at the moment. I don't need something that expensive for now (inflation bearing of course).

for myself personally i will say $30,000..i also work at a highline store and we have had bmw, porsche, audi, jaguar, and saab...if i could afford more and had the same attitudes that most of our customers have it would not be worth it..

good thing the sticker on my taco was $29,700 lol..better thing was paying only $24,800 new...

I think 30k is enough to pay for any vehicle.. Just think about.. 95 grand could get you into a smaller nice home... or at least in my area.. it can..

I couldn't imagine paying over 40 grand on a car/truck.. I would NEVER want to put it on the road with any other vehicles.. and the way they depreciate.. its just not worth it.. I think my 22,900 was just perfect for my Taco!

I could have afforded something more expensive than the Taco but i didnt need the power of a Tundra, and i didnt want another car right now. plus i'm not a bells and whistles kind of guy, i dont need heated seats and stearing wheels, im not that much of a wuss. right now i could have gone as high as 45k but if i dont need to i'm not going to. I'm already 25k in debt for school and i would like to buy a house soon. If i got something more expensive i'd have to be more careful with my money (no more trips every weekend and buying random toys on a whim, and i may have to cut back on the good booze.... God forbid) Anyway, it just doesnt make sense to spend alot on a car if you dont need it. Although if you have the extra income i dont see a problem driving an expensive car. Although to answer your question, i consider a car expensive when it hits 50k. Dont get me wrong, the 26.5k i paid for my car is a chunk of money for me but its not like i'm living above my means so i dont really consider it expensive.

My wife's 06' RAV4 V6 Sport 4WD Loaded was somewhere between 25K and 28K. That is the most expensive vehicle I have ever purchased. That will be the case until the diesel tundra comes out (and proves itself).
