I drive pretty moderately but 75% of my driving is around town since the truck is not my DD. I take the dogs to the dog park on a daily basis though.

Yeah. I’m willing to give a little. But those Frontrunners were pretty disappointing. You’d think they have the $ for better engineering and design. But considering some of the rigs they go on, I guess the owners gave up on MPGs long ago; like when they got monster tires and 6” lifts.

Do you think I could get back to square if I put some of those fins on my racks?

I am really on the fence about the Prinsu rack because of noise, the MPG thing was an accepted already but I did not know it could be as low as 15 mpg. Does anyone hav experience with the EEZI-awn k9?

In this thread, the drop to 15 mpg was with a frontrunner rack, not a prinsu.

That’s what mine looked like before I installed Frontrunner racks

    Join the dark side ;)

Don't be fooled. That was 20 miles on main routes doing 50mph, it's happy place. Anything over 65 and I'm at 17.5- 18.5

There is still noise from the rack with the deflector all the way down and weather stripping installed. If you drive slower than 65 mph no real mpg loses. Around 75-80 mph its a 1-1.5mpg lost compared to no roof rack.

My fuel mileage really reflects the distance driven. Driving to work its shit with or without the rack. On the highway unloaded im still getting around 24. So, not much of a difference in mpg. I was getting a rediculous vibration at first and then I slid my wind deflector(with a 30 in light bar cut out but no light bar) up one and it got quite. then i got some weather stripping and lowered it back down. I think i wrote about it in my build thread for my process of the prinsu rack

I have a set of prinsu racks (Cab/shell) I’ll trade you for your frontrunner.

    It's getting there.
My Accessrac is great. With the lightbar installed it's still very quiet and no MPG drop. When I threw my plano boxes and recovery boards on, I could hear and see the MPG difference.

Only had mine on my truck for about 2 weeks now and haven’t a difference in MPG. In regards to wind noise I can’t hear it at all, but I have mud tires and those things create enough noise to drown out everything else lol.

If your super picky about noise you will have to put bolts in the bare holes on the rack so wind doesnt “tunnel” through the holes if that makes sense. With bare holes you will get a slight whistle noise. Me personally it doesnt bother as I normally have windows cracked and music way up. Also not sure if this was changed on the newer racks? I know it was a complaint a few guys had back when i got mine which is about 2 years ago.

Its not so much the Prinsu affecting MPG, it’s what you do with the rack after you put it on your truck that can really kill it!

Hey guys. I recently installed a prinsu roof rack on my 2019 DCSB. I've been reading on the forums about people having negligible MPG loss (1-2 MPG drop seems to be the consensus). However, my drop seems to be in the 3-4 MPG range. I was just wondering if anyone on here has any suggestions on possible reasons for the higher drop.

-my faring is at the lowest possible setting
-I have the weather stripping installed on the faring
    -4/6 cross bars are installed
    installed
-I do not have the T slot covers for the cross bars

    Any insight would help. Thanks!!
