    Hey all
Been thinking of a roof rack lots but a little concerned about the edge trim that makes contact with the roof in the middle above the windshield damaging the paint.
Yes I know I can probably shim up the rack and likely a number of other things that could mitigate damage to the paint however my question is in regards to not modifying the install at all.
My question is does anyone have any pictures of their roof after one of these racks have been taken off?

A local car wrap guy that is pretty popular in the “overland” Toyota scene sells black vinyl that covers that spot for that exact reason. He claims it’s an issue that he sees often when doing roof wraps on our trucks (and presumably others). If you’re interested in more info, check out his IG @beyondwraps

    Thank you
I have seen and considered that. Problem is it’ll still rub through the vinyl.
I wonder if the contact is by design?
Maybe it vibrates under just the right conditions. I know the OEM rack on the wife’s Pilot does that.

I had a detailer install some xpel in that area for when I get to working on my RCI roof rack (when it gets warm). I'm doubtful that it'll vibrate/move enough to get through it.

Is there any adjustment on that front wind deflector on Prinsu racks? I had a similar issue with my Martin off road rack which is basically the same. I slightly adjusted the angle and got a bit of space with the deflector still in a low position for lowest wind noise. I also added a strip of door edge molding as well so if it bows due to weight pushing it down slightly it will be rubber contacting the roof.

My SSO rack came with a vinyl wrap the color of my truck specifically in for this. I had a car wrap shop do it. Doing it yourself is a shit show.
