So, turning left in an intersection when a Prius drifts towards me. I see this happening and think to myself that I hope he just scrapes me a little, if at all. The driver was looking at the passenger as he scraped the side of my truck, all the way down to his tire and front bumper slamming into my drivers side rear tire.

My tire is pushed back 2.5"-3" at the U Joints. The scrapes go from the front bumper all the way to the rear bumper.

Best photos I could get at night.

Visually, yes. I wonder how much damage can be done to the vehicle when the entire axle gets shoved back. Either way, my tire didn't even pop, and it ripped his almost completely off. Wow.

    WTF happened to that Prius?

Obviously the CV Shaft came totally apart, did that happen before or after the crash?

Glad you're ok. I doubt there is much mechanically wrong with your truck. It probably broke a ubolt and slid back on the spring some. If they have to replace the Leafs and you have stock Leafs this might be a chance for you to to some good name brands in there.

It could have also tweaked the axle or the drive shaft. The u-bolts are not broken, but it did slide back a few inches.

I'll at least get those replaced, and get new rubber. I'm not driving on a tire, even still inflated, that got hit hard enough to rip the tire off of another vehicle. That has to be some rubber damage I don't want popping up later.

    :D

Anyways, I'm a nerd, I like both the Prius and our Trucks. I just generally like the Prius for all the neato features on the inside, oh and the 50+ mpg lol.

Glad to know our trucks held up pretty good against one

Its possible, but I doubt it. If it slid your axle back and the U-bolts on that side are still in tact, it probably sheared the head of the leaf pin off, since it is recessed into the hole on the axle mount. That's probably where all the impact energy was absorbed, rather than a strain on the comparatively beefy drivetrain/axle parts. I'll bet your damage is minimal, but since the other driver seems to have been at fault, you might as well play up the potential need for all those parts to be replaced.

Sorry about your truck. Accidents suck.
