ya if the shackle points aren't welded to any bracing on the back then chances are if you are pulling really hard you may bow your metal out and if you pull at any angle from side to side you could tweak one of the shackles and bend your front plate. i would suggest reinforcing the back some if you havn't already

That was my guess too. That bending the plate is a greater risk than any breakage.

Well, you could always pack one of these in the truck to be on the safe side.

In a class with Bill Burke he told a grizzly story about a recovery situation that broke off a trailer ball and struck and killed the driver of the vehicle being recovered in the head!!!

(image changed - or should I say censored ;) - It was a picture of a real blow to the head to remind all of us that to use a winch and know what you are doing with it, and how to safely use recovery equipment with a 5,000-8,000 lb load, you should truly get trained. Hopefully, you wouldn't go buy a gun and use it with out proper training... or better yet, work for a fireworks display company without proper training... that's all)

With all the stupid shit I've done in my life, I don't want to hurt myself or others when trying to help someone.

You may be fine... I am not trying to rain on your parade, I just trying to share what I've seen... If it helps with my cred... grew up working on a farm and my brother's auto/truck repair shop, while in school I worked to GM Desert Proving Ground, have an undergrad in Mechanical and Aero Engr, manged a structural development of the C17 and MD11, managed a titanium and stainless steel welding shop and a couple of machine shops in my earlier days.

Take a look at Armor Tech's stuff and you'll see what I mean.

To clearly show what can happen. I have also spent 6 years in the ski patrol and have seen other innocent accidents like a skier cracking his head open when hitting a rock. ... Just to remind us that when 'playing' with our trucks, shit can happen. It's why hitch manufacturers have standards.

probably wouldn't have tried this after seeing those photos but now i know it can take it no problem

i did jack it up more but it just started sliding the tire to the left from the front.

i did it by the winch also i couldnt get the tires off the ground because the was just sliding to the left, no movement at all im very happy all the weight of the front end is on the jack.

i was disapointed with not being able to get the front tires off the ground so i took a side shot to show that all the weight of the front end is on the truck.

With your design, I would feel comfortable doing that. You may find that you can use it for getting pulled as well, I don't know.

As I said before, the bumper Looks great!!
