I have done the initial set up to pair my smart phone with Entune. It works great, except for one thing: About half the time when I leave the car and then come back, the auto pairing does occur but with very poor connection. I can hear the music playing but it cuts in and out.

My work around this issue so far has been to manually turn off my Bluetooth broadcast on my phone, and then immediately turning it back on. This works, as it establishes a clean connections, but is annoying to do so often. I expect the phone to successfully auto pair every time I get back into the truck.

I have an Iphone 5s running ios v 7.1.2. I know my phone and operating system is not the latest, but my phone pairs 100% of the time with a clean connection in my dad's Lexus. So I don't think it's my phone's fault.

I have the Entune app installed. (Sidenote, the Entune App does not appear in Settings, which is odd, and therefore I can not tinker with it. Most apps appear here, and allow for customization)

    Anyone else having this issue?

    --------

Update: Issue resolved, see post #24. Thanks for everyone's help.

Upgrade your OS man! There's security updates in there as well as application interface improvements. There've been a shitload of fixes made to iOS in 8 and 9. Running iOS 9.0.2 with no problems with Entune in my wife's Prius.

    @CaptAmerica I want to but it's a memory hog. I don't think I have enough space.

I remove apps I'm not using and music I'm not listening to in order to guarantee I have enough space. Good thing about the app store is that I can always put them back on. You can also clear out old archived texts and emails, which would surprise you by how much space they take up. Pictures are another hog, and I drop mine to my home LAN from time to time.

Being two versions back is going to make for a loooong update, but the improvements really are worth it. 8 was really stable, and I'll like 9 better once I get used to the new font.

Update first then test, this is coming from a sysadmin who is now doing battle with all of our ios users that decided to update IOS 9 before we said do it hence breaking our app and their access to email.

EDIT: Not to mention IOS9 gives you a mixed case keyboard (FINALLY!!!!)

big issue with entune on my 14 4runner. if the vehicle is running entune and your phone is running entune, if you walk out of range, it really screws it up on reconnect. best to just leave the phone in the vehicle or turn the vehicle off.

also if you want to do a hard reboot of head unit (driving, parked, vehicle on), hold the power button for 5-10 seconds and the boot up sequence will happen as if you just turned the vehicle on from an off position.

most people don't realize that unless you read the manual in depth.

no. I don't expect to. I expect a fully automatic pairing. Any thing manual would be disappointing.

bt itself should reconnect automatically. I would suggest update, remove pairing from Entune and your phone, do a "Reset Network settings" on your phone, and pair them again.

was using a Samsung S5, then moved to a Samsung Note 4.

but then again I hardly take the phone out of the vehicle if I leave it running. the wife hates that when I get out of range, the Pandora stops. so I just leave it in the 4runner so the music keeps going.

When I first paired Entune needed an update. Did you take it?

If you plug your phone into a computer you dont have to clear space to update.

After updating your phone, go into the settings on your radio and delete personal data. Then re-pair the phone. There were issues with older versions. Updating and starting fresh usually fixed the problems.

I'm expecting my truck to be here early to mid November. It's coming with premium entune JBL. Will I need to download an app to have everything work and pair up?

It is possible to pair through bluetooth without an app, but you will not be able to have full Entune functionality.

don't know if anyone mentioned this, you need to haven an Entune account to use entune properly on the head unit/cellphone.

also to add, for those that want to use the scout gps link app on the entune app, I think you need to download another app on top of entune per the PDF.
