whats up everyone. So aside from the normal loud ticking of my 4.0 I’m hearing more valve pinging like one would soundi out of time. To add to that I was working on my stereo in the heat and had it running, ac blasting, and all of a sudden the valves started making a knocking noise which was extremely noticeable and loud compared to normal idle. It eventually went away after I drove it. “Btw it wasn’t the type of knock a rod makes b4 if goes. I’ve head plenty of them. My engine has 88k should b fine. During this time it threw two codes a couple weeks apart saying some issue with crankshaft position sensor. I deleted them and haven’t seen any snce but as After read how the vet-I engine works i now know that and the cam pos sensor work together to adjust the valves via the computer. To finally get to my questions, do I have an underlying problem? Has anyone had an issue like this before? And is there programmer on the market that will adjust the valves to be more in tune with low octane gas which could eliminate most pinging?
