just a quick update: i just got off the phone with 4wheelparts. they called to do a follow-up on my order and to make sure that the wheels fit correctly. i told them that they fit great and that there are plenty of people running the same setup. he told me that he just updated their records so they won't be telling people that they have to order the 17" wheels to make them fit anymore.

funny u just posted that..4wheelparts just called me and told me that the wheels i ordered wont fit. hmm...i told him to send them anyway since u guys are running them. damn now im a little nervous.

Dont be. They didnt even want to sell them to me. They told me they wouldnt take them back if they wouldnt fit. I said "fine, send them anyway". Well, here they are........

I was also looking at getting those rims for my 03 extended cab. Would it be the same or do i need the hub centric ones? Thanks...

So to sum this thread up and clarify for myself:

I have a 2009 TRD Off Road A/C, right now im running stock TRD O/R wheels (which I believe are 16x7, 5in backspace) with 265/75/16 BFG All Terrains. I dont like how far inside the wheel well my tires/wheels are, and Im hoping these wheels will fix that problem:

I want to order Pro Comp 7089s in 16x8, 6 on 5.5 bolt pattern, 4.5in backspacing, NON hub centric.
(2nd one down, P/N PXA7089-6883)

hey guys i just put spacers on my truck and i think they are lugcentric, i was told that we needed huncentric for our trucks is this correct? this dude told me that he knew a dude on here that accidently got lugcentric and his wheel spacers sheered off at a stoplight. heres a pic of my new spacer

You may never see problems. but, without the shank its easier to misalign the wheel and cause problems as well as Dan said you dont get as much bite on the lug.

I will try to do a graphic to show the difference.

Heres a primitive graphic... to show. think of it as a cut away side view.

Blue would be the wheel
black the hub
green the lug
red shanked lug nut
Yellow unshanked lug nut

You can see that the unshanked lug nut relies on the taper to center the wheel hole over the lug. friction can sometimes prevent it from centering completely. the shanked lug nut the shank centers the wheel hole over the lug. this is especially important in a lug centric wheel. you can also see that the shank covers more of the lug providing a stronger connection to the hub.

1st gen is lug centric...

I just bought the shanked lug nuts and they did not help me. My rims are Moto Metal 951
