    Happy New Year all!
A few months ago I picked up a 2014 TRD/OR that came with 2 sets of keys and fobs. I've been using one key without any issues. Yesterday I tried the other key and it wouldn't start the truck. It unlocks the doors and turns in the ignition no problem but just cranks the engine and won't start it. My assumption is that the chip isn't programmed correctly.
Is it possible to reprogram the key yourself, or does it require a locksmith and/or special software? Has anyone done it successfully? It stresses my OCD to only have one working key.

You can program fobs yourself but the chip key requires software/laptop.

Hopefully you can find a locksmith who can do it cheaply, although buying the equipment/software yourself is an option too. Lots of threads on that here.

I've done it myself. Bought the blank transponder keys and Toyota Techstream off Amazon. Total cost was about $100. Some notes to consider depending on your location. My Home Depot refused to cut transponder keys. Ace Hardware cut the key using an automated key cutter and it didn't work. A local locksmith cut the key manually and it worked perfectly. The $100 upfront cost included the two keys wasted by Ace Hardware. I then used Techstream to program it.

Did you try turning the key over?

Sometimes when it's been away from the truck a while, it doesn't quite sense the chip.
